Yeah, I'm excited. I like winter gardens because all you really have to do is harvest. Not much work. I was ready for a break!

Good luck 🎉 with gardening. Yesterday's MN snow ❄ through me off, but I'm still doing carrots & scallions tomorrow.

That's the nice thing about the cold frames, snow just isn't a big problem this time of year. We haven't had any yet, but they are saying it's coming mid week.

Love seeing the garden. Your lettuce is always so beautiful! Do you ever grow broccoli or brussels sprouts in the Fall? I have several plants growing well this year, but still no florets. I hope they have time to develop. If not, the greens are good for stir fry. I'm in CO, zone 5.

I do broccoli and cabbage some years, but I didn't get any in this year.

We replanted. The plants in the video weren't planted until September 15th.

Nice job Rick! We're here in Texas it's still about low 80's we had a slow start because it was too hot finally got fall crops going. Still warm though
@StoneyAcresGardening14 күн бұрын
We had a pretty hot fall too. But that's all gone now! We haven't been over 50 all week.

Looks wonderful Rick! We are mostly growing out of grow bags love it in Spring was successful with potatoes for the first time!! I'm also not a fan of arugula! You have such a fantastic selection of veggies
@StoneyAcresGardening14 күн бұрын
Yeah this year our selection is extra big, I tried to get bunch of different plants growing.

We had a rough time with voles/pocket gophers late in the season and they pulled our carrots, from underneath! We've set out ultrasonic stakes in hopes that they will move on to the pasture (with the cattle) and leave the garden for next year. If not, the caster oil is next. Good luck with yours. 🤞

Loved the tour. I still have some Swiss Chard out in my garden. If I cover it with row cover would it survive the winter or freeze and die? I took the year round gardening course and it was great. Going to go through the course again since you have updated it.
@StoneyAcresGardening15 күн бұрын
Yes if you cover it, it will survive most if not all of the winter.

I’m still struggling so much with spinach, but the weather has been so bizarrely mild that I might seed more radishes. Will you add soil to your beds or do you leave them at this level?
@StoneyAcresGardening14 күн бұрын
Those are not beds, those are cold frames that sit on top of the inground beds for the winter, so not I won't be adding more soil.

Do you find carrots will continue to bulk up through November even after our persephone period begins?

How are your marigolds still alive? Mine died with the frost. Have the mouse traps caught any voles?
@StoneyAcresGardening14 күн бұрын
They survived the couple of light frosts we had last week. but they are gone now. I did this video on Monday and we have had 3 nights of hard freezes so we lost them shortly after I did the video.

My husband is trying to draw quail in our greenbelt
@StoneyAcresGardening14 күн бұрын
Quail are beautiful birds and fun to watch and listen too. But they are VERY hard on gardens. They like to eat young tender plants and they also dig up your garden and take dirt baths all over digging more things up. We have a pretty large population that has moved into our area over the last 4-5 years and it has changed the way we garden.
