Love love love this wrap-up!!! As a 20- year gardener in Zone 6, I'm always wondering "how'd everyone else so?" so this was really a lot of fun for me!

I loved this video. End of year assessments are so enlightening! In my garden. My carrots struggled. Especially my fall crop. I just couldn't get them to germinate. My lettuce, tomatoes, parsley, parsnips, onions, and cucumbers all had wonderful crops! With the beans....they were slow....but then did well. We decided to increase the amount of space to get a larger crop. Strawberries were minimal....but it was the first year. Potatoes were mixed. One tub was fantastic and the other two were sparse. It was a watering issue. Blueberries were a win! Zucchini was a bust....but rampicante was fantastic! Next year I'm going to try Sweet potatoes again.....this time in straw bales.

I only had good germination on my carrots once I covered them loosely with a paper lawn bag. Some people use burlap.

It's too dry in our area for really good strawbale gardening, we usually have zero rain in June to September so that makes it hard.

I agree, I can't get good germination without burlap.

I'm going to try growing cannellini beans next year. I hate dedicating a whole bed to it, but I'm going to try.

You had a busy year! I'm glad your growing season was good . I agree with you about the dry bean's. We tried this year too. We both said never again. It's just too much space for a little return. Our garden was egh... We're in Virginia and typically our spring is kinda like a roller-coaster. When May came around, summer kicked in , by June it was crazy hot. We planted bush bean's this year, major disappointment. We said we'll stick with pole bean's from now on. The heat zapped tomatoes and peppers. Squash bugs hit us hard. But man alive, fall gardening has taken off and doing great! I tried herbs this year too, basil and chives did well but rosemary, thyme I couldn't get it to germinate. Next year , I'm buying herb transplants and like you I'm putting in a bed for herbs. I hope we all have a amazing fall harvest and a better 2025 growing year

It was a busy year! I hope your fall harvest is great!

Really enjoyed your video, it's interesting to see how others did this season. Mine was awful, put transplants out and got hit with 90° temps so lost quite a few plants. Squash, corn and pumpkins the germination was terrible to hot and dry. Everything else did ok.

It sounds like you had a tough year!

Watching/listening while cooking dinner. I tried both regular orange and the purple-skinned, yellow-fleshed sweet potatoes and actually had good success in a first year plot. Hoping it’s even better next year. Highly recommend trying the Asian varieties, they’re totally different, and so delicious. Totally agree about herbs. I’m really getting into it, even looking into using some medicinally.

Yeah, I feel good about our first year of trying to produce enough to preserve. But hoping for more next year.

This year I grew, from seed, several annuals: marigolds, pansy, petunias, & cosmos, as well as perrenials: Blue Sslvia, Yarrow, Verbena, Penstemon, Purple Coneflower, Rudbeckia, Echinacea, Milkweed, and Wild Bergamot (Bee Balm) to attract pollinators and I am glad I did. This winter I plan to add more perrenial varrieties.

I grew a couple of Bergamot plants this year. They are a fun looking flower.

Great video!! We love to see it. Question: Where can I order berry bushes or seeds?
@StoneyAcresGardeningАй бұрын
Most berries are sold as bushes. We got our blackberries and strawberries from Stark Brothers. Our raspberries came as transplants from a neighbor. We also got several fruit trees from Stark Brothers.

How do you make lettuce last through the winter?
@StoneyAcresGardeningАй бұрын
We cover the plants with a Cold Frame and they will last until January.

What are you plans for the vole problem. They destroyed my garden here in Sandy.
