- Chemical pollution is at a critical level but chemical regulation UK REACH is not sufficiently robust to protect our health and environment from harmful chemicals.
- UK REACH currently has no data on most chemicals on the UK market.
- Yet policy makers often claim they need UK specific data before they will restrict chemicals already banned elsewhere. Data is already available globally that is applicable to UK health and environment which would allow decisions to protect environment and health to be made sooner.
- Policy makers and regulators are adding extra steps (such as RMOAs) into UK regulation slowing the process and few chemicals are being restricted.
