Thanks man I'm just a beginner doing 700 jump ropes in 30 minutes with intervals my fitness band always showing zone 4 in very rare zone 5 by the end of workout I could barely stand. My band shown I'm at zone 5 for 8 minutes and zone 4 for 12 minutes etc. I'm worried that I'm not done enough. But you've open my eyes. aim for zone 5 as beginner may harmful, Now I'm happy. Thank you

Thank you for this video even if it is 2 years old, thanks for adressing biginners, I might have overdone it on my new bicycle hometrainer allready. I didn't know what numbers would be normal for what. I was just happy that I allready could control it a bit yesterday, so about a 150 - 160 bpm for a half hour straight yesterday... It was'nt a problem, I warmed up and down afterwards, but slight chest pain during the night and today, not that it has to be the heart, I finally got on my crosstrainer in same session as well but... Hmmmm...... 🤔

Is there a heart rate monitor that allows you to have different target heart rate zones along with being able to set the amount of time in each zone? For instance having to be in zone 2 - 3mins then zone 1 - 1 minute then repeat. Just an example. Hope that made sense. Thanks again

How do you find your max heart rate though? It’s different for everyone. I’m 62 and hit 170 on the treadmill, my resting heart rate is below 50.

@RichRich1955 Жыл бұрын
I prefer using max only than heart rate reserve method. Is there proven science showing how using hrr to calculate zones is better than basing zones on max hr? Someone with a resting hr of 75bpm will have zone numbers higher than someone with a resting hr of 60bpm when both have the same max hr.

Hey Bryan. Enjoying the videos as usual. Wondered what your thoughts on wearable fitness trackers are- Apple Watch, Fitbit etc. Do you use them? Sometimes doubt the reliability of my Apple Watch and feel it’s possible to get a little too focussed on the data they produce. All the best ✌🏼

Hey Jez, actually, I do use a fitness tracker when I workout. I use a Polar one that is about 10 years old, the one that has a chest strap. A couple of years ago I did try a newer technology one. One where it detects heart rate through the skin. It was extremely inaccurate at higher intensities, so I went back to the chest strap. However, I do think the newer ones can be beneficial, in tracking steps and keeping people aware of just being more active in everyday life.

Hi. Can you briefly go into the shifts for a more athletic heart after it reaches a zone and then stops/slows down? I'm trying to find info about a healthier or more trained heart where the heart rate goes back down faster, or if I'm simply not pushing myself hard enough lol. Hope that made sense. Thanks.

Yeah i feel you, here you go! First finding your max heart rate for running as you know different sports have different max heart rate! Let suppose in running your max heart rate after a field test where you usually run is 180 ( it's just a guess, for you to help understand how to find zones for a fitter runner) then you sure know your resting heart rate ( take your resting heart rate of usually 5 days in a row and let say is 55 then we take the max heart rate you have in this example is 180 - (minus) 55 (of resting heart rate average of 5 days in a row) = 125 (this number is your heart rate reserve) From this number we calculate our hear rate zones, so they are: 125 x .4 = 50 now we put back the resting heart rate, so + 55 = 105 this is the lowest limit of your zone 1 (recovery zone) 125 x .5 = 62.5 + 55 = 117, 5 or round it to 118 ( this is the upper limit of zone 1 (recovery zone) 125 x .6 = 75 + 55 = 130 this is the upper limit of your zone 2 125 x .75 + 55 = 148. 75 (round it to 149 bpm this is your upper limit of your zone 3 moderate training 125 x .85 + 55 = 161.25 so 161 bpm, so this is the upper limit of your zone 4 threshold training and the zone 5 is from 161 to 180 bpm this is calculated a bit lower than Karvonen forumula suggests starting at 50% of the heart rate reserve but for me starting at 50% i would run a lot to get into that zone and my speed corensponds as i run in zone 4 speed. so not accurate for me, with this calculation i showed you is fenomenal and very accurate calculation. zone 1 for the Very light zone, 40-50% of your functional capacity in this case your RHR (reserve heart rate) 125 x .4 = 50 +55 = 105 bpm for the lowers limit of zone 1 zone 2 for the Light zone, 50-60% zone 3 for the Moderate zone, 60-75% zone 4 for the Hard zone, 75-85% zone 5 for the Maximum zone, 85-100% Try it and let me know i hope you will be spot on in your heart rate training. Let me know if that helped you!

Using the 220 less my age (70) results to 150 as my maximum heart rate. The Tanaka formula 208 - (age x 0.7) gives 159 as my max heart rate. Which do you think should I use? At an uneven terrain, I jog every other day for 1.5 hours at 130 to 135 steps per minute (SPM) cadence, covering a distance of 7.5 km and accumulating 10K to 12K steps. My hear rate recorded in my Apple series 6 watch sometimes shoots to 175 going uphill. Is my workout too strenuous for my age? Or do I follow the hear rate zone formula for my age?

Hello Butch Go, I am going to link an article below where a doctor discusses this under the "How High Can You Go" section. It really is a question that you should discuss with your doctor though, as he/she will know your medical history, and be able to gauge your heart, cardiovascular and respiratory health. I'm sure that family medical history will matter as well. The article... www.livestrong.com/article/394318-what-happens-if-you-exceed-your-maximum-heart-rate-during-exercise/

Hi, when I train in tabatas, every other exercise is high intensity and every other exercise is low intensity. When I do the high intensity exercises (often by using a kettle bell) my HR reaches 140/160 and then, when I lie down and do some low intensity exercises, my HR quickly falls to around 60/70. Is that normal that my HR so quickly shifts from high to low to high again?

Is it bad if you stay in the maximum zone for over 10 min? I exercise every day and my watch tracks my heart rate and zones and everything. It hardly ever gets to the maximum until today when I switched my exercise to something I don't usually do and my heart rate was in the maximum level for over 10 min according to my watch.
