Great show, guys. I love hearing about origins and our interpretation of Heavy Metal. To me, heavy metal is represented by MEGADETH, METALLICA, SLAYER, etc. Pantera a little later on. I also really love Overkill from the east coast. I have never really gotten into the Black Metal thing. Not my bag.

Thx for another great episode. Yo Guru ,I have a similar warrant story. I998 playing Belly to Belly in the car one day & told my girlfriend the band was called Belly to Belly cause she would have given me a ton of crap for playing warrant. But I still love that album today!

1:20 I think the 80's resurgence is over already - it built up and then peaked with Stranger Things - the 90's resurgence in coming (or already here) fashion will be going back to flannel & grunge

57:00 a big part of what killed the music (for up and coming bands wanting to make it and "scenes") was raising the drinking age from 18 to 21 in the 1980's... a lot of up and coming bands wouldn't even be allowed in the club - much less their friends and fans to build a fanbase.... bars put in CD jukeboxes and MADE money instead of paying bands - or hired a DJ instead (or a guy with an iPod)

Yea , That’s a minor but very important detail

in the mid-late 90's after/during grunge/alternative the women (girls) left metal/hard rock and got into female solo artists (Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crow, Lisa Loeb, Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Tori Amos, Loreena McKennitt, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill) (defining moment was the Lilith Fair) and/or the boy bands/Disney stars (NSYNC/Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys)... while the boys got into Gangsta Rap & Nu Metal (defining moment were the Korn Family Values tour & Woodstock 99)

37:45 - I love Dokken & Cinderella but I don't see much of a difference between a Tom Keifer album and a Dokken album without Jeff Pilson, Mick Brown & ESPECIALLY George Lynch (he's the reason I got into Dokken in the first place) - it's basically a Don Dokken solo album but he owns the name of the band because it's his last name so he can call it whatever he wants (and he probably knows [by album sales] that more people went to the Lynch Mob camp and bought 'Wicked Sensation' than Don Dokken's 'Up From the Ashes'). If Tom Keifer released his solo albums as the band Cinderella it might have legal ramifications to the former band members or record companies.

I'll cut you some slack but kiss and the like where nothing but clowns, and many bands after in the 80's should of upgraded to real jobs like flipping burgers.

@@findoe8586 thank god for that slack but what song did you have on the top 200 billboard charts again? 🤔
@findoe85865 ай бұрын
@@krashkoursemetalshow don't know about billboard but there were great bands like NIN, TOOL, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, KMFDM and MINISTRY that were by far better writers and musicians than any of the hair bands. hair bands had no depth of character.
