Currently grinding my way through a helpdesk job to one day wind up in a hospital SysAdmin position. Love your channel!

As someone trying to get into IT and going down the help desk as a first job path, it is very enlightening to see someone outlining how we can go up from there. Just found your channel and your content is great and very helpful! Thanks!

I am finishing up my cyber security degree at my university. It is located in a small town and the Systems Admin job has been vacant for years apparently. I've been applying to constant help desk positions at various companies, but I have a meeting with the IT supervisor about the position. It is a very good paying job for anyone, well above the average household income. I have been working in virtual environments on projects and teaching myself windows server, networking, et cetera. I honestly have a little confidence I could land it. Fingers crossed if I can land this right out of college I have no problem working for my school. The experience gained while studying for my Sec+ would be a blessing in disguise. GL to everyone trying to get into IT. I've applied to 60+ jobs so far while do projects of my own. No luck but I'm trying to network constantly and classes are eating up so much time. I graduate in a month! Hyped as ever tbh

Any update on this? How did it go for you?

@@belacmaz9088 I worked as an IT intern for my university over that summer and have since been hired as the Systems Administrator. It's been pretty great so far. Lots of different work to do, I've been working on getting a PDQ server situated so that we can distribute software packages across campus more readily. Then I have to work on upping an Anti-Virus server as well. I will say it isn't commonplace to land a position like this right out of college with the amount of "experience" I had, but I'm grateful that it happened when it did. Apparently market salary increase is in order. I get a letter in the mail either this week or next week to find out what it's going to be.
