Either way, here's an overview (told by a heritage language learner herself!) of not only WHAT a heritage language is...
But also examples of very different situations heritage language learners face compared to non-heritage learners (and how those situations can inevitably impact both the actual learning...AND the emotions they might feel during the process).
I also give advice for how you can approach the subject as a non-heritage language learner. This video can't cover every nuanced aspect of heritage languages, but it's a great starting point.
