Im in Australia... I may have had this in November 2024... it just hit me overnight. When I went to bed I was feeling fine. When I woke up my throat was on fire, and progressively my symptoms got worse over the day. I knew something was wrong, I felt very sick all over. After waiting in the hospital for hours to be seen (yep, and spreading it to everyone there), and me insisting that it was not just the "flue that was going round" they Xrayed me and waddaya know.... pneumonia!!! I was on two lots of antibiotics. They sent me home where I was so sick I couldnt move. Lucky I didnt flaming die at home. Im still weak from it. They told me it was some respiratory illness.

I have had HMPV here in Australia since before Christmas after attending a Christmas party. 8 of the group got sick at the same time.

I have had these symptoms in order over time: sore dry throat, sneezing, coughing, nausea, off my food, severe dizzy headaches, unable to stay awake falling into deep sleeps, complete lethargy and exhaustion, conjunctivitis, rash on torso, chest infection, mucus, chest pain, bronchitis, complete clung congestion and wheezing, hacking cough non stop throughout. Dry throat throughout, sinus brain fog, no focus, blackouts, taste and smell changes. This was swabbed and I only had HMPV. Symptoms come in waves and you think you are having some improvement only to have more severe symptoms. I am now very weakened. I still feel terrible. There is no treatment, no vaccine though a course of steroids helped a little. This is highly contagious 2 to 3 days prior to symptoms, 5 to 7 days during peak symptoms then you can still be contagious at the end of symptoms. I believe I an in viral shed as this bug mutates and this is why I am so unwell again after 26 days. This means I am ice again contagious. I think I picked it up from someone at the party but I think I gave it to my neighbour after a simple handshake and 5minute chat. However weirdly non of those close to me caught this. I am autoimmune compromised as I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. This is a dreadfully severe virus. Don’t take it for granted. I have been severely ill.
