Human geography is a great field! There is so much to study with it! I did a masters in urban geography and my thesis was on iconic architecture and the power dynamics influencing the way cities in neo-liberal economies are produced

Psyched for human geography!! I read once that geography is about maps, history is about chaps! Glad your series is muddying that picture up! 😃

I'm thrilled to see the name of my city "Vijayawada" on the board in the video ( at 12th second ). If in case you wanna know, it's in South India, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Just happy to mention this in the comments box. And, loving the series... in fact all of them. Love from India 💌

I signed up for this for freshman year and had no idea what human geography was until this 😂

You kinda glossed over it... but Mt McKinley was named such LONG before it was a US state... long before it even became a US territory even. A large part of naming things in Alaska after political figures was to try to get attention to making alaska a state because it would greatly benefit those seeking natural resources like gold, coal, oil etc. And.... it worked haha. The same thing happened in Hawaii though not as pronounced.

This is great. But, and I confess for a moment I thought somewhere she would jokingly say "WAIT! WAIT! WE KNOW BUT DON'T CLICK AWAY! WE'VE LEARNED OUR LESSON LAST TIME!!!"

Another toponym story which is interesting are German place names around Europe, but most notably to the east of central Germany which most Americans will only have heard of as "East Germany" nowadays. That story doesn't have a happy ending tho, as slavic nationalism still runs rampant.

My least favorite part of geography. I love physical geography more. But looking forward to it.
