The ruler in the Kremlin wanted to annex land very similar to the big idol from Austria, although it was made clear from all member nations of the European Council that Munich' 38 won't be repeated. He's not seeking for peace. He's seeking for Ukraine to surrender to Russia. How about he lobbies Putin to leave Ukraine, and return his troops to within his own borders? That would also be peace, and more importantly, would not reward war, which is the opposite of peace. Both sides could talk to each other whenever they wanted. There is and never was any obstacle in the modern age. Zelensky speaks Russian, a well-known fact because he was an outside-the-establishment guy who wanted peace and everyone hoped he could maintain the tentative peace of the Minsk agreement. Putin is not interested in peace, he is interested in conquering Ukraine and refused everything Zelensky tried to negotiate with him at the start of the war. Putin has not changed his demands of Ukraine since the war started because this is his war and he can end it effectively and immediately by withdrawing from Ukraine and thereby instantly guaranteeing peace. The fact that he refuses tells you whose fault this war is. Orbán's role is self-appointed because he is desperately trying to milk his temporary position for his own ego and ends. All of his foreign political goals have failed, his party has been kicked out of every European Parliament party that there was. His staunch pro-Russian stance has alienated every country but Slovakia's in the EU.
