iMessage requires an Internet connection (data or Wi-Fi) and can only be sent between Apple devices. Regular text messages do not require Internet and can be sent to any mobile number.

The key phrase here seems to be: "you can use iMessage to send text, pictures, videos, and MORE. According to what Apple is "hyping" on their web site, they indicate one can use iMessage to communicate with another Apple use (or device) via voice, as in like actually using ones human vocal cords to exchange words between another human being. So what's the true scoop here? Is Apple playing the "hype game" or am I missing something here. Like is this like about 99% of the so-called "high-tech" gimmickry where one finds that one has to go out and throw down more hard earned money to buy some other component or app in order to make the other piece of crap actually do what we are being told its capable of doing? Bottom line: Can this iMessage gimmick be used to actually communicate (via voice) between say, someone in Europe and someone in the United States (as long as both are using Apple devices and have iMessage installed and set up in their iPhone and/or desktop computer) WITHOUT having to pay astronomical phone / cellular charges?
@techlifeunity5 жыл бұрын
Hi Roger, Yes, you can send voice messages through iMessage now. It doesn't cost you anything. You simply both need to have an Apple device with iMessage enabled. To send voice messages, hold down the microphone icon, then record your message. The recipient will be able to listen to your message when they open your iMessage conversation. Hope that helps!

iMessage is built into Apple devices and can only be used on Apple devices. It is used in the same Message app as if you were sending a regular SMS text message, but when you send a message to someone else with an Apple device that has iMessage enabled, your message will be sent as an iMessage, over your Internet connection, instead of as an SMS message. Other benefits are read receipts, reactions, etc.

So, as i understand this, #1 - iMessage is ONLY for sending text messages and #2 - You indicate "there could be charges involved from your service provider" but you don't explain under "what circumstances" - what determines if one will be or not be charged??? So #1 - iMessage is not for "voice conversation" and #2 - More likely than not, you will be charged for text messages..............And, #4 - How in the world would one send text messages between a cell phone (Apple cell phone) and a desktop computer (Mac computer)????? So basically this video is useless!
@techlifeunity5 жыл бұрын
Hi Marge, here are some answers to the questions you've asked: 1. iMessage allows you to send text, images, voice recordings, and more. 2. You need an Internet connection to send and receive iMessages, which is how the charges from your provider could come in. If you're connected to Wi-Fi, iMessage won't use your mobile data. 3. iMessage is also available on Mac computers. So yes, you can send text, images, and voice recordings between various kinds of Apple devices using this app. Hope that helps!

The blue bubble lets you know that your message is sent as an iMessage. If your message bubble is green, it was sent as an SMS text message.
