What’s missing here is the conversation on our relationship with the spiritual text/stories/events…etc. Specifically, I’m thinking of Christianity, the Bible, and the question of there being anywhere from some or no actual historic fact to the old or New Testament. There is the spirituality that requires a certain level of historicity and then there is the spirituality that is independent of historicity. This is an ever more relevant conversation as, for instance, biblical scholarship continues its deconstruction.
