Does the iris Vision have a night vision mode so you can see at night so the turn night into day does it have that capability for you to see at night

It doesn’t have an official night vision mode, however, the camera automatically brightens a dark scene. I feel like as an app this would work great, but this whole headset thing just isn’t practical. Maybe for sitting in reading? For anything else that actually requires moving around though, it seems like it would hinder the vision more than it would help it. Especially in social situations, you might be able to see someone’s face now, but they can’t see yours and you’re wearing a big “thing’ on your face. Perhaps once proper AR glasses are a thing….
@theblindlife5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have a point about interacting with people while you’re wearing this on your face. People do have difficulty talking to someone who is wearing giant goggles. However, The part about not being able to move around doesn’t really apply. You’re actually not supposed to move around while wearing any of these types of devices. In fact all of the manufacturers discourage it. So you can’t really complain about something you’re not supposed to do anyway.

Hey Sam, I was wondering , as a fellow Stargardt's patient, if you too see sudden flashes of light in your eyes ? I tend to see them frequently. It starts of as a small streak of light , then gradually starts rotating clockwise, before disappearing slowly. It lasts for few seconds. I notice these when I move my head from a resting position . It usually appears in the center but hard to determine which eye since it's there even when I close my eyes. Do you experience these ?

The rest of the family had no problems but I couldn’t see a thing. I put the goggles on and suddenly the room was much brighter, almost like somebody turned on the lights. It doesn’t have an official mode but it still helps out tremendously in low light situation. Last year I was in a New York museum where the room I was in was so dark that I couldn’t even see my family standing right next to me. Put on the iris vision and the room was instantly brighter and I could see everything, including the exhibits. One thing to note though, it’s not recommended to walk around while wearing the device. You don’t have peripheral vision and it also takes away depth perception. Plus the image is slightly magnified, even when fully zoomed out, which makes things seem closer than they really are.

Did you hade the same problem. When it’s dark I see a lot of white instead of some colors. Also when you go to a theater and you’re sitting in the back I have the same issue. For the rest it is a great device. I play games on my PlayStation and my hobby is diamond painting and that for a blind woman lol, I also can reed books from the library and so on. If you have a solution for all the white please tell me. I found one solution and that’s a light on the back of my tv that shines on the wall but it wasn’t working with the 3.0. Maybe I did something wrong.

To tell you the truth, watching TV with the glasses has never worked for me so I don’t even try. Let me preface this comment with, I really dig what Sam is doing and appreciate his reviews of these pieces of equipment. In the below, my experience may differ from others. I recently received this device, but unfortunately my experiences were not great. The company was very slow in getting information to me and in several instances I had to reach out to them to just get my "couching" started. I have RP and I am a software engineer, so a lot of my day (8+ hrs.) is spent working with computer monitors. The first thing I noticed with using this device was the "screen door" effect when viewing a monitor. Now for many that may use this device, they likely will not be using a computer monitor as much as I do, so this effect may not be worth worrying about. However, for my work, it made this device unusable. After much frustration with this, I found out that the company knew of this issue and failed to let others in the company know this (the sales and couches). The final nail in the coffin for this device for me was the fact that this modal has a known design engineer defect that causes it to consistently "disconnect" and "reconnect" to the headset. It is likely in the hinge, but regardless it would cause undo disruptions all day long and was considerably annoying when either sleeping or in a meeting.
@theblindlife3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experiences, I’m sure they will be helpful for others. I’ve never had much luck using a computer or watching television with wearable devices so I pretty much don’t even try anymore. However, I need to be more aware that some users are interested in that and would like to know how it performs. I’ll definitely remember that for future reviews. Thanks again!
