I really dig this kind of video essay. So many essayists don't really have anything new to say, but I can tell you really gave the setting a lot of thought beyond just what's told to you explicitly in the game.

*I feel like if it was more choice guided with linear environments instead of completely open world, it would be much deeper with infinite replay value....but the world is big enough for them to release 15 years of dlc lol.*

I get you there tbf. Inherently if you go open world you get some mismatch and flow issues, and some things not making sense (me doing every side gig with weeks to live😂) but ngl I love that 2077 is open world. Man that city is a character in itself to me. I'd be gutted if I could only explore it a section at a time instead of having it all open to me. If they wanna give me a linear game focusing on Johnny, or Rogue after 2023, I'd be all over that
