Great video! We have the Fleetwood Fortis 34mb with the Godzilla V8. Very similar driving characteristics. We did a 7k mile 3 month trip from south Mississippi to Montana and stayed a few months then across to Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, then on to visit kids in Detroit and Philadelphia. It does get loud as well as bumpy but I’ll take that over the higher price of a diesel.Those tips are really good and so practical.

Thanks so much for this! I am in the beginning stages of deciding if and what type of RV I want. Being able to drive it obviously is paramount! And what you've shown helped me tremendously by glimpsing the view, traffic, and unknown issues of road traffic conditions! Knowing ahead of time about the wind sheer with 18-wheelers, highway only bridge standards and the other tidbits you shared, allows me to reconsider travel trailers alongside motorhomes from the start of my research process. I look forward to more reviews and travel stories from you two! And maybe even a meet up one day!😊🎉

I'm glad i went with a gasser the diesel pushers i have talked to while traveling across the country are getting similar Miles Per Gallon as I'm getting in 36ft v10 Georgetown around 10-12 mpg on "flat terrain", going up mountain passes that's when the gassers take the hit but 87 is much cheaper then diesel, when your filling up 70gal-150gal.

We installed Dynamat in the doghouse a couple of weeks ago and that quieted down the cabin some. See this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJbYhY1uZdelfbM. As far as the sway some folks install LiquidSprings or Summo Springs. Can get expensive though. If we saw a vid like this before we purchased...we would have gotten a diesel. I drive a Class A F53 Ford V10 chassis. I find the biggest comfort for me is the arm rests and keeping my forearms on them it helps me stay stable so I don't add extra input into the steering wheel. I have become very comfortable driving. I do have a new Bilstein stabilizer and stock setup in front, great tires help. I am satisfied with a nice 65mph and the power with the V10 is sufficient

Every rv rig has pros and cons, nothing is perfect. We went from a diesel dually pulling a 5th wheel and are now newly owners of a class A diesel pusher. So my initially thoughts so far between the two are, the truck/5er is much more quiet and never notice wind pushing the rig around. The DP, I hear all the rattling and noises inside, albeit no noise from engine as it’s in the rear. The overall ride is good in the DP albeit is a bit squishy feeling in turns. Wind and 18 wheelers do push our DP around, so steering can be tiresome. I’m sure the higher end DP’s with tag axels have comfort steering and adaptive cruise which would be nice but those rigs were out of our price range. The class A’s are hands down easier to set up and more convenient while traveling, excess to bathroom and such. Trailers have their pros and cons, 5ers as well. I do like the exhaust brake and air brakes for slowing down in mountains on DP. You guys are a fun couple, love the positive attitudes. Keep up the great content.

Thanks for this video! We had very similar experiences with trucks passing and body roll until we had the liquid spring four corner system installed. It really is the "game changer" when it comes to the F53 chassis. Our rig (2022 Coachmen Encore) now handles and drives more like an f150 than a bread truck. I think the next thing to address will be the transmission downshift on hills. A tuner should do the trick.

Glad you enjoyed the vid! Yes, you are correct. In a Class A the engine sits between the driver and passenger seat under the doghouse. That is one of the reasons its so loud. However, there are ways to make it more tolerable. A few months after that video we made another where we put insulation under the doghouse. And the engine stays cooler and there is less noise in the cockpit. In other words, it's the same as driving a truck. I still don't understand why they let people drive these things without a CDL. They teach you all this stuff in truck driving school and you have time to practice. Most trucking companies regulate their trucks to 65 MPH because they think driving faster is unsafe, so I get it. All highway bridges are suppose to be a height above 13'6" because that's the normal height of a truck and trailer. Off the highway is when you will need to pay attention to the bridge height signs that are on all bridges. Most truck map apps you have to pay for. This is why most buy a separate gps. I never knew there was a free truck gps app out there. Most people never want to be behind a truck either, because trucks are always thought of as slow.
@AmpedtoGlamp

Yes, it is the same chassis used on many gas trucks. John and I both held CDLs and drove buses while in college. The company we worked for used governors to prevent speeding. There was also a chart generated that we had to turn in after each shift. It really prepared us for driving our Class A. Some states require a Class B license (non-CDL for operating a single vehicle of 26,001 pounds or more ), but not many. We learned so much about how to safely operate a bus and it really helped when we got the RV. If you drive trucks, TruckMap will also let you know if there is a load available on your route. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and share.

What a great video guys. Awesome job! 🙂 I couldn't believe how much road noise you had going up that hill. Just Wow! It truly makes me appreciate our diesel pusher even more. We are quiet up front. Going up a hill our rpms only increase by maybe 200. We have a Cummins 400 hp turbo diesel engine. Going up a hill our boost goes from nothing to 15 pounds and we just zip up hills. Even towing our car. I have a question. Did I see right that at one point you were doing 81 mph? That is a dangerous speed for an RV. I hope you are able to get some steering and suspension modifications. They really help.

The Sony mic picked up a lot of the noise. The DJIs were quieter but they are designed to cut down background noise. At 11:01 we measured the sound using a decibel app. For most of the small hills the noise level was in the range of 80-82. Steeper hills yield louder engine noise. Liquid springs would help with the ride but not the engine noise level. Thanks for watching and safe travels!

What was the trucker app you use for navigation . We have a 2022 coachmen encore 35ft . Pretty much the same set .

Have you added anything like sumo springs, sway bars or steering stabilizer to your motorhome? We put front and rear sway bars and a steering stabilizer on and it corrected all of the problems you were talking about. We do NOT go over 60 mph. If the speed limit is lower than 60 mph then we do that speed exactly. I never try to keep the engine rpm that high. Slow down and take your time and save the wear and tear on your engine.

Hi Rick and Darci 👋 We thought about adding liquid springs until we decided to purchase another RV.

We did the abbreviated version of the PMCS. If we had a TM we would have, though. 😉

I am a 20 year old with a decent job right now. I am looking to quit and get a class a motorhome and travel full time hopefully able to land a remote job. What would your recommendations be?
@AmpedtoGlamp
@AmpedtoGlamp 2 ай бұрын
Hi 👋. Thank you for reaching out. We both work full-time (in office or restricted to a location) and travel part-time so we're not the best source on remote jobs. However, our friends @VentursomeCouple have a couple of vids on remote work and are planning to do a few more. Also @CreativityRV wrote a book about working remotely and has a few vids on her channel about the topic. Finally, @HappilyEverHanks just did a vid on the topic (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqC3lWaXeMmDbbcsi=Ai9O773lhlUgUSOf). Also, make sure your RV is warrantied for full-time living. Not all RVs are built for full-time travel and many will not honor the warranty if you take it on the road full-time. Whether you buy new or used an RV inspection is super important. Find a certified inspector before you purchase. I hope that gets you started. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Man, I wonder if most gas class A's are this loud. I may have to rethink this..
@AmpedtoGlamp

Most are loud especially when accelerating or going up hills. However, you can buy sound deadening mats to place under the doghouse to help eliminate the engine noise. I hear it's not too hard to do.

I wanted to know how much it costs to fill a class A
@AmpedtoGlamp
@AmpedtoGlamp 6 ай бұрын
Our gas tank is 80 gallons. Right now gas is about $3.40/gal so that makes it $272.00 to fill. We tow a jeep and get about 6-8 miles per gallon.

Thanks for the tips and info. I never thought a class A would squeak and rattle so much. That engine sounded like it was going to blow. Did you have the mics right on the engine bay? Is there a big difference with the diesel pusher? That truck app sounds like a game changer. I've heard of other apps that charge for the same info.

Our DJI mics where attached just below our necks. They are designed to filter sound and didn't pick up as much as the Sony mic which was also about chest high. The iphone mic was just above John's head. Diesel pushers are much quieter and provide a smoother ride.
