Welcome to our modern homestead channel. Thank you for stopping by. We are so excited to share our journey on how we moved from Vancouver BC with what fit in our truck and trailer 3 kids and a dog. We travelled over five thousand kl across Canada to Northern New Brunswick to start our homestead. We have tons of projects coming up as we get ready to bring animals on to the homestead. 2019 is going to be an exciting year!.

Welcome to our channel John. That is so cool that you are from NB. It is always nice to hear from people that live or have lived in New Brunswick.We are new to the province so any suggestions or comments about what it is like to live in NB helps us out. It is going to be an exciting year as we bring animals onto the homestead/farm and get crops planted in the ground. Have you ever been to Maine?. We are thinking about doing a road trip and we are wondering if Maine is a nice place to visit?.

We are Australian homesteaders looking at moving to canada (Alberta) to buy a farm/ranch. Just worried bout the snow being an issue with riding horses and feeding the animals lol. A lot to learn. Subscribed to ya channel!

Just a heads up that the new Brunswick climate is VERY different than the Alberta climate!

Hi ya! I'm from southern Alberta, depth of snow is less of an issue in AB. It's very windswept on the prairies and a lack of moisture can be a difficult issue in late summer. I'm currently in the foothills and hail is a very real issue the last few years. Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have about Alberta Climate and permaculture. Land is very expensive but great for solar and hay bale houses are a great option too.

Thanks so much for following our journey. We get a lot more snow the AB but their temps can be colder than ours.

Hi New sub here from Vancouver BC I do not homestead but like the homesteading videos I came from the Jones Family channel

We also are from Vancouver BC. We lived 20min east of Mission out at lake Errock. We wanted a more simple life and started to realize that we would not be able to do that living in BC. After many months of looking at each province on line and talking about the disadvantages and the positive things of starting a homestead in each province we decided to pack up the family load what we could in our truck and a trailer and drive for 6 days over 5,000 kl across Canada to northern New Brunswick. It has been exciting over the past few months and it is going to get even more exciting as we get ready to bring farm animals onto the homestead.

Welcome to our channel Wes. We are gearing up for a big spring summer. This is our first winter on the homestead and being from Vancouver, this cold and snow is all new to us. Everyday is an educational day for us here on the homestead and we are enjoying every minute of it and we are happy to share it with the KZbin community. Welcome to our channel. We just moved from Vancouver BC 4 months ago now. We have been told this winter in NB has been one of the worst winters in a while. Trying to get the homestead up and going has been extremely challenging with the snow and bouncing temperatures. One day it is a blizzard and then the next day it's plus 12 and heavy rain. We are getting closer to having animals on the homestead. We will be doing a video soon on converting our mini barn into a chicken coop and we are also going to convert part of the garage into a goat barn. So stay tuned for tons of videos coming as we share our adventure and show the world what it is like to homestead in New Brunswick.

@@RunamuckFarms This winter has started earlier, but less snow than usual. (Our winter usually mostly condensed to JFMA) way more rain, though! Chickens are so fun, and can be heartbreaking as well (predators- raccoons are pretty prevalent and smarter than you think) but fresh eggs are so worth it. Your kiddos will have a great time with them!

@@tigercappy8982 Congratulation! homesteading is exciting and knowing you can live off the land and provide a healthy life and a life of freedom is very rewarding. The bad winter has been extremely challenging for us as living in this kind of climate is new to us. We are so excited for spring as we have so many projects to share with everyone. Watch us grow our homestead from a 5.5 acre chunk of land into a thriving sustainable homestead.

@@mizzenmonkey We are so excited to be getting chickens soon. Yes you are right predators are very smart I am planning to have the chicken's locked up at night time and have a full enclosed run for them. I also plan on building a chicken tractor for our meat birds. We had a bunch of rain yesterday so I was getting excited that the ground might be workable soon but the cold weather is settling back in again. This is all new to us as we are from Vancouver. We are loving it here and are so excited for this up coming summer.

Do you think is wise to feed the chickens eggs? Won't they eat the eggs that they lay?
@RunamuckFarms5 жыл бұрын
You want to make sure the egg is cooked because yes feeding raw egg would encourage the chickens to eat their own eggs. Chickens will eat just about anything.
