Rachel explains what it is like to study in China. She grew up in China with her American family since she was in the first grade and went to Chinese public schools for most of her childhood, then continued to graduate from Chinese university in Xiamen with a scholarship, and recently got her Master's in law.

Rachel is a big KOL (Internet Celebrity) on Chinese social media nowadays. Do you think her parents made the right decision sending her to local Chinese schools??

there is no right or wrong decision. my nephews and niece spent more than a decade in Hong Kong and none of them speaks more than a few words of Cantonese. my brother-in-law spent a small fortune on International school. was it worth it? the question is, how many Chinese students from Hong Kong or mainland flunked out of top or mid level universities in the states?

it is definitely a right decision, there are plenties of opportunities for the youngth in China.. unfortunately I can not do the same, my sons are Aussie born Chinese, they have never talked in Chinese, it will be challenging to go for China in future.

If she did her middle school and high school in China, her math, advance math, chemistry, and physics must be really good. Even if she is not the smartest kid in her class, the US SAT should still be like a child's play to her. Here in Australia, some of my Chinese friends who came over to study during year 11 and 12 had an average VCE score of 99.5. They are just hardcore to the next level!

Most interesting interview. Will definitely subscribe to Rachel's channel. And Zen's channel too. Really wish to find out if Rachel is a practicing lawyer in China, and if so, what is it like to practice in China's legal system. Five kids in any family is unusual these days. How are the other four siblings doing?

Thanks for watching! She's currently working as a KOL-content creator. She maintains more than a million followers on her Chinese account such as WeiBo, Bilibili, etc. Her siblings are all still here except one who moved to Australia a few years ago. They all speak Mandarin very well, and Cantonese pretty well too!

whether you feel it or not, getting bullied is just part of life. Just like many other challenges that we have to face in daily life and we have to overcome it or ignore it.

I came from a war torn country where fighting among us kids were normal. When I came to Canada without knowing a word of English and started my schooling at grade 6. I was bullied by an Indian kid as I was walking home. I beat the sh1t out of him even though I was smaller than him. We were poor as fck. We had nothing to lose. When grade 7 started another kid tried to bully me. I got into fights again. None of the bullies ever touch me. I was no longer an ESL student when grade 8 came as I was able to take English class with the locals. My parents worked at low end jobs and still managed to put me and all my siblings in university.

I studied in China for 4 years just graduated last December. Studying in China was the worst decision I ever made, worst experience, full of sad memories specially during Covid. Worst University, poor English, bad Management, the Administration doesn't care about how the students feel nothing and the list goes on. China is the last country I would ever advise anyone to go to specially for studies.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. As I've heard many good comments from people who studied in China, I guess having a good or bad experience depends on various factors, like location, university, environment, personality, etc.

Adaptation is very important thing to keep in mind and practice before you go out for studies or for anything abroad. What do you mean by poor English? Did you go to China to study English or expect to communicate in English like at your home? Were you forced to move there for studies by someone else in their own interest and not yours? What type of ignorance and stupidity is this? Who just blindly go to foreign countries for studies without knowing anything about the country or without researching how it's generally gonna be like? Sounds like the blame is actually on yourself. There's also good and bad institutions anywhere in the world regardless of which country so it's important to get enrolled in a good one especially if you're not a native. Everything you say is clearly a result of your stupidity and like someone mentioned above, it's all got to do with your own self. You couldn't do it because of your weaknesses doesn't mean it will be same for everyone else because people who live and did their studies there are saying otherwise. Your comment look like nothing more than a baseless made up story out of hatred

You are here to study in China, what's wrong with poor English? You should learn Chinese.! Chinese people won't go to foreign universities and complaint they speak poor Chinese! It's a very western bad habbit to blame everything on others! Even the abortion dispute in the US has something to do with China, what a 🤣🤣🤣
