Thanks Mr Pete. #3 is a led pointer for drafting. #4 is for lapping engine valves. #6 is clamped on to the cross arm of a utility pole to hang a pulley for pulling in new cable with a rope. There would be one on each pole so you would need a lot of them to pull long spans. The side of the pulley can be opened to get the cable out. The pulley could be mounted on top of the cross arm or hung below according to the application.

No. 5 would have to be for melting something, such a lead. The volume suggests only a small quantity is required on each pour. Re-casting battery terminals maybe? 🤔

#1 is for crimping over the eyelets in sheeting (plastic, canvas, sails) the stop makes it accurately stop without crushing. #2 is for setting the angle on sheet metal, the measured lines help set the tool, Not super accurate but good enough for the type of work it's meant for. #3 is for pointing drafting pencils, I have one of them and a slew of drafting pencils and all sorts of lead of various hardnesses #4 is for valve grinding #5 is for pouring lead on stair railings. In the old days a hole would be drilled and the railing inserted and held in with lead #6appears to be for holding material on a beam for working it. the beam has a bunch of these attached on the edge and the square material can be clamped in (that's my story and I'm sticking with it). Thank you Lyle for all you do.

Good morning Mr. Pete! Item #3 is a sharpener for mechanical drafting pencils-- not wood pencils. Made by K&E and others. I still have mine and a bunch of fine mechanical pencils! Item #5 is a ladle for pouring melted lead. Maybe for casting bullets? I have a similar one made by Lyman but it has a small hole at the top to pour a small stream of lead into the bullet cavity. Lots of goodies from Mitutoyo I see! That should be interesting!

I have lived with number 3 the whole of my 72 years. My dad had it and I was introduced to it as soon as I could use it, probably helping me with toddler age hand/eye coordination. As a teen and adult, the gadget has had a place in my work place.. and to this day still gets use when making drawings..

Hi Lyle, N° 4 is a hand cranked valve lapping tool. It is old, but not the older type. Back in technical school they used to theach us how to use one of those in a model T engine block, and the tip of the tool had two pins that hooked in the valve head point (which had the same pattern for the tool to match)

Good morning Lyle. Of course we know #3 is a lead pointer. In college, I couldn’t afford one so I had a small piece of sandpaper I kept in an envelope. They also had a styrofoam ring available to clean off the tip of your lead once it is sharpened. As an industrial arts major, you could always tell whose parents had money.

I went to college without any money at all. I wanted one of those pencil sharpeners, but I had a small piece of wood that has sandpaper glued to it, it was messy.

#3 is a sharpener for drafting pencils. I did some work for a gentleman named Ed Dorscherwitz, who lived in Coloma Michigan. His company was called Tru point. He manufactured a pencil sharpener that looked to be the spitting image of that one. Most were the black, wrinkled finish, but there was a limited run of them made with a highly polished brass finish. Later on he got into the plastic injection business, making drawer rollers for Steelcase desks and workstations. Among other things. Small world. Great video.

#1 not a clue but it is a nice one, ditto #2, #3 removes the wood from your drafting pencils then you put wanted tip on it, hey I took drafting pre cad, the Dietzen gives it away, #4 either a strange egg beater or use it to lap in valves. #5 looks like something lead has been melted in, but why does it swing? #6 sure is a nice one, but quite a bit of aluminum for a buck.😊

IIRC #3 only put a point on the lead after the wall mounted pencil sharpener carved down the wood but left a good bit of the lead/graphite exposed & without much of a point. Took a while before figuring that a regular #2 pencil & other randoms could do most of the work instead of buying the expensive kind from the teacher. 7th grade 12 week drafting course followed by 12 weeks of art, then music, 1961-2.

With the advancements in the quality of carbide, in recent years, I've often wondered why someone hasn't developed a 'pencil sharpener' for metal tipped scribing tools or for sharpening divider points. In other words, if a man wanted a nice point on something metal he could simply stick it in the 'pencil sharpener' with carbide teeth and crank the handle. Just a thought.

@@mrpete222 We had a Gorton cutter grinder that I would repoint my Starrett center punches once they dulled to a 20° - 25° included angle. Kept them in a second red snap pack to find a cross scribed intersection or move a bad punch mark. The diamond wheel could have dressed carbide tipped scribers. Whatever fit your colletts. The cutter grinder spent its life creating single or 3 sided pantograph cutters. We had a local sharpening shop that was more cost effective sharpening our end mills.
