@@andiuptown1711 I don’t care what is said about black men because I don’t represent them nor am I their savior and I don’t date BW anymore and my life has been better for it. Fk going to prison or dying prematurely just to be loyal to a group that hates you. They are on their own.

As a Biology major, I completely understand how you feel. Being the only black person in class is not only awkward but also lonely. Never give up, I believe in you. We both are in cali ayyy.

Keep doing the good work bro! As a black man myself I can tell you, I feel your pain too. But it will be all worth it! I have graduated with computer science last year. Next year, I'll be done with my master in cybersecurity. One step at the time, you can do it! You can watch black excellence on youtube for inspiration too.

Never really realized until this video, but there are only 2 black people in the CS program at Saddleback and I’m the only one of the two that will be transferring. Glad you made this video because it’s not well known the lack of Black Computer Scientist out there!

@Kenneth Coats Aww, your coming exactly as I am heading over to UCI. Best of luck to you in your classes. I highly recommend Michele Rousseau for your CS1A class professor. She is hard and gives a lot of homework with high expectations, but she will prepare you the most out of every professor. I loved every moment and challenge that came out of that class. Befriend the computer science tutors in the CS lab because you will be spending a lot of time there so you might as well have fun. Once you take CS1B, you would be qualified enough to become a Compute Science Tutor since that is what I did(yes it is paid)

Lmao I feel this! I majored in Chemistry for pre-med, walking into every first day of class was the worst being stared at. I remember after my lab partner got comfortable with me in O-chem, he told me mid-semester that he I was lost on the first day 😭. But I didn't make it into med school unfortunately. I have programmed as a hobby since I was in middle school so I ended up deciding to get my masters in data science. Hopefully I can get into Amazon with ya next year! 👍

Keep pursuing your goals and don't worry about those bougie blacks in your class that don't want to talk to you only surround yourself with people who is real and support you. And blacks and other minorities in tech/science is steadily growing.

I know we're talking about black students in your major classes, but I can't help but think, too, how hard it is to work with other black and brown students even if you're black, too. People don't want to talk to you if you're not successful of famous.

I just got accepted at uci (currently a senior in high school) and I plan on majoring computer science to go into gaming. I am kind of scared to do computer science at uci because I don't know how to handle it if its challenging. I enjoy doing it. How do you get around these challenges and figure out an issue if for example, your code doesn't work properly. Any advice?

Congrats on getting in! 🙌🏿 There are resources available to help you, such as tutors in your assigned labs or office hours that your professor has. These come in clutch as well as starting all of your assignments as quick as you can to allow yourself enough time to complete them. Hope this helps!

Fun fact, did you know a lot of the technology we currently use today was invented by black people? Examples include the very first snow mobile, the first telephone, the first refrigerator, the first ever cinema to watch movies and many more. If you don't believe me then look it up.

Are there any African American females in your class ? I'm a freshman in college and I'm majoring in CS. I'd like to know more logistical things about what you've experienced and how you think about it as a whole.
