can u explain the mathematical model of JIT

Great lesson ... however isn't it the case that in the Just In Case system since the manufacturer needs to purchase raw materials in bulk to produce inventory that the per unit cost for these raw materials would be cheaper ? ... I the Just In Time system the manufacturer has to purchase raw materials on an "as needed" basis .. meaning that they would in many instances need to initially purchase LESS volume of a raw material at a higher cost .. ? .. how can the manufacturer ensure that they can purchase raw materials at the same or better discount as they would in the JIC system ?
