What is Life Like Living in a Calabrian Hill Town?

Love the history, hearing about life style. Really enjoy your videos. Yes non-hybridized wheat, allowed to sit in the fields longer & maybe sprout a little which makes it easier to digest. We experienced no issues while there as well. Also the light is different. I noticed in Tuscany & Umbria it's very colourful, golden with a beautiful glow. Probsbly why so many artists moved and painted there! : ) Thank you!

Ciao! I can confirm about the diet and the food. After 5 months of living in Florence I have lost 25 pounds, and I eat plenty, plenty of pasta, gelato, and pizza! LOL As you said, the food is just healthier. Natural and simple ingredients, even when buying dried pasta or jars of sauce. You don't have 20 "ingredients" that you can't pronounce as in the US. So, that has been a nice little bonus of living here without any extra effort on my part. I also have a nice Italian friend who took time out of his busy life as a property manager, and went with me to the Posta and to the Quarturra to get my Codice Fiscale and my Permesso. Wonderful people I've met here and my Italian is slowly coming along. Ok, grazie! Paul in Firenze

Just curious if you thought it would be easy to be gluten free there? Italy is ranked one of the highest countries for being celiac friendly and a lot of people rave about how easy it is to be gluten free there but they are always in the big cities so I’m wondering if the smaller towns are as accommodating?

Hi, yes you can totally eat gluten free here. There are several restaurants that offer GF options and even in the regular restaurants there are so many dishes without gluten.

Is it possible to simply change your codice fiscale to reflect your marriage? It seems like there should be a procedure for this, given that Italian women do change their names upon marriage, although the practice is perhaps not as common in Italy as in many other countries.

Hi Sandra, When you live here you are supposed to get an Italian driver's license. TP date we have not but have to in the future. For now we renew our license when we go back to California and get an International license.
