Thanks for covering this great series. Loved the mono-dialog.🙂

Don't want to overload the channel with LitRPG content but I really want to do a full spoiler discussion of the 7th book. Maybe I will in a little bit once more people get a chance to read it.

About 90min into the first book and have already laughed out loud 3 times. I also can't help but wonder if the author has ever read Heroes Die by Matthew Woodring Stover (cult classic from 1998). There are a few overlapping themes and concepts. I think that anyone who was charmed by DCC might have a great time with Heroes Die, as well. Great channel, btw. Livesuit review got me to subscribe.

I feel like I've heard other people mention it in this context so you may not be wrong! And thank you! Appreciate you watching.

Just wanted to say, I found your channel last week watching the video covering how to get into the Cosmere, currently reading Hero of Ages and am following the reading order you outlined, had I not looked I don’t think I’d believe someone if they tried to tell me that you had less than 10,000 subscribers let alone less than a thousand, you’ve quickly became one of my favourites to watch when it comes to book tube thanks to the calm nature of your videos, the professional quality and the clear passion behind it, keep doing what you’re doing, I eagerly await your rise in size as a KZbinr as I truly feel it’s inevitable.

This is probably the single nicest comment I have ever received on KZbin. Thank you so much. I stand by that reading order ahaha, even if it's different from Sanderson's. I'm gonna keep pumping out the content and see what happens! I'll be starting to document my writing journey as well so that will also be worked into the flow here. Really want to get a bunch of different stuff up on this channel.

I’m min the 6th book. This has been the BEST audiobook ever.

I keep hearing about it! I read all six books but I'll need to check out the audiobook.

@@Paul_Todkill Alternatively SBT also has an audio drama version that plays out like, well, an audio drama complete with different voice actors (Jeff Hayes still provides his famous Carl+Donut voices), sound effects, and music. It also rewrites the book a little bit to better fit the format and includes interludes with in-universe ads. One of them is entirely in Spanish and spoils a plot point from books later, it's great.

This is a really well-made video. Niche topic but keep up the good work :) Also, you have convinced me to read this soon! Have you read any Robin Hobb's works?
@Paul_Todkill2 ай бұрын
Thank you! And yes I have a feeling LitRPG may be less and less niche over the next few years. I have a funny feeling this genre is gonna blow up. And yes I have! Read the Farseer Trilogy years and years ago. Definitely need to go back and read more of her work, she's fantastic.

Please, do yourself a favor and listen to the Audiobooks. It's hands down the best narration I've ever heard in an audiobook and adds SO MUCH to the story. Jeff Hays has literally reset the standard for audiobook narration. Regarding the book itself, you touched on it at about the 6min mark but IMO the most well done thing about this series is how realistic the characters and their interactions are. Nothing felt forced or manufactured, it all felt so natural and realistic (yes, I realize this is a book in which one of the MC's is a talking cat - I still stand by the statement). Hope you read (but especially LISTEN) to the rest of the series - it's amazing. Book 5 is peak literature for me, just amazing from start to end. Also I somewhat disagree with this being a great starting point for LitRPG. It's literally the best of the genre - nothing else you read (at least currently published) is going to be nearly as good. Had the same problem with Progression fantasy and the Cradle series.

I'm already on book 3, lol. I will give them a listen but no way I can wait that long to get through them. I read a lot faster than I can listen. You're certainly not the only person to compliment the audiobook though. I have heard so many amazing things. Everything about this series sounds like a hidden gem that is quickly (and rightfully) becoming less and less hidden. I will absolutely read all six books this month lol.

Seconded, the audio books have a next level of production. It’s not a different way to take in the book. It’s a separate piece of art masterfully crafted.

@@Paul_Todkillthe secret to audiobooks is to adjust the speed for each book. I read most books at 2x speed, but the DCC books were at 1.75 for me because of how much happened in every moment. I can not read at 1x speed because the narrator’s voice is always purposely slowed and I fall asleep. 1.25 is a more natural voice and generally helps people get into audiobooks when they think they don’t like the format. My husband has read the digital and audio versions and was surprised at how much nuance was added by the audio.
@FollowingDopamineАй бұрын
The BEST audiobook ever. 1.25 adores is a natural feel.

I do very little bookreading for fun. A friend of mine got me hooked onto the DCC series. It just gets better & better. And shouldn't that have been GD Besos!
