I don't know if someone has said this yet, but I have a theory about why Louise wears the ears. Maybe she has some sort of hearing loss. I know this is a stretch, but I have evidence. The hat covers her ears, so if she wears hearing aids nobody can see them. Maybe it's because she's embarrased. But there's more. First of all, when her hat was stolen and she covered the sides of her head, covering her ears. Also, rabbits have amazing hearing, so maybe she chose the rabbit ones because of that. Also, she talks so loudly because she can't hear how loud she is. That's really all I could think of but that might be why.

From a nanny's perspective, it's likely that Louise was given the ears as a gift (likely from Bob) and I most definitely agree with the theory that she uses her ears as a comfort object. What I might say though, is Louise is about a year old in development when she is seen as an infant in mother daughter laser razor, so it's likely the pink hat is just the hat the hospital gave her when she was born. A cute coincidence and definitely done to keep a consistent character design, but a coincidence at that. Also random fun thing, my old health and economics teacher is the sister of Larry Murphy (Teddy's voice actor). Weirdly small world. Also, the girl I'm watching at the mo' says I'm the Louise to her Gene. Adorable.

I think it could be: - that because her hair is probably just like her mom's(Linda's) hair, shes embarrassed about it because she favors her dad(Bob) alot more. So I’m guessing that implies that Louise wouldn’t care if her and her mom have the same hair. I have a theory. Louise wears the ears because, yes she has a bald spot, but it was caused by trichotillomania. That could also be why she centers her rage through yelling. that... it could be a coping mechanism for Louise having a form of high-functioning autism, and I can speak from experience with this, for me (I know autism works in radically different ways person to person, but all share similar, albeit, small similarities), where Louise could be going through massive stresses, with school, Tina's admittedly sad attempt at romance with jimmy pesto, gene being an embarrassment, etc. and as such she wants a tight physical pressure on herself to help cope with the stresses, and for me at least, i use a blanket that has iron weights embedded into it to help me...

I really like the theories that: 1) Louise has hearing loss and wants to cover her hearing aid(s) 2) Louise has a condition like trichotillomania (which causes people to compulsively pull out hair) and wants to cover bald patches/deter herself from pulling 3) It is simply a comfort/security item. Even though she appears tough she is still a 9 year old kid As for why it's that specific hat? All three kids show signs of being on the spectrum (obviously with Tina it's acknowledged in the show) - but both Gene and Louise also have traits such as hyperfixation, behavioural rigidity, a lack of awareness (or respect for) boundaries and social conventions. Look at Louise's reaction in the B&B episode when Linda moves her stuff - it's extreme. Being extremely attached to comfort items (her bunny ears, Kuchi Kopi) is typical with kids on the spectrum.

I must weigh in Louise being my favorite character in "Bob"s Burgers" I feel at birth Louise had a condition that required her head to be operated on, and the pink cap was to cover the stitches. When she healed, of course, the cap was removed prompting the parents to introduce the bunny ears to allow her to feel comfortable. As time went by she wore the ears so long, YES, they became a part of who she is, or they were a gift from a family member who passed away that she was very close to, and keeps the ears on to show she'll always have that person with her.

A theory i have is maybe Louis had a serious head injury that she needed to go to the hospital for. The medical bills are so expensive it makes life difficult for parents and thats why theyre so poor. Louis believes its her fault her parents are struggling and is reminded of it everytime she see the scar...hence the bunny ears.

In S11E12 we see the family's Christmas cards during the credits. I haven't seen all episodes, so I don't know if anything more has been said about the hat already, but we see it's history here. There aren't 9 cards with Louise, so some are missing, but we see that she starts out with the light pink baby hat (no ears) from 0~2 years old, then has a dark pink hat (no ears) at about 3, then gets her bunny ears sometime between ages 3-5. At this time we see her mischievous personality is already firmly in place.

Okay so you know how we don’t really know anything about Bob’s mom? I don’t think they’ve ever mentioned her at all. I’ve always assumed his mother died young (which is why we don’t see her at all in the flashbacks when Bob is younger working at his dad’s restaurant) And when Louise was still very small, Big Bob mentioned that Louise seemed like her grandma (in the 15 minutes Bob can stand being around him lol) and Bob takes notice too. The bunny ears belong to her grandmother and Bob gives them to her in honor of his mom. But he obviously doesn’t think the ears will stick the way they do lol

Well Edd covers his head because of an obvious mark that’s on his head, because when his hat was removed, his friends were in shock. Even Ed had to ask Edd “does it hurt?” I don’t think Louise has anything like that, it could be as normal just an attachment, which is very common in young children.
