Sweden here! The Swedish word for wormwood is malört. When we mix wormwood with vodka it's called aquavit. I wonder how it got lost in translation *.*

Wrong. To be called akvavit (aquavit) a spirit has to be seasoned with dill and/or cumin. It CAN be seasoned with wormwood, but is just one of many spices used. Probably the most famous swedish spirit seasoned with wormwood is "Bäska droppar", meaning Bitter drops, and it is just that, a bitter.

Very weird but I drank some of this half empty bottle like a year after opening it and it was.....really delicious?? Maybe it oxidized some and the flavors calmed down idk it was confusing it was so good 🤣

it's really strange - seems to hit different palates completely differently. To me it tastes like chewing a kerosene filled balloon. A friend that really likes it says it's tastes like flowers and grapefruit.

@@lttfan9185 yeah it’s weird, the first time I had it it was horrid. Then I randomly drank some out of an old bottle and it was great 🤷🏾‍♂️

I didn't know wormwood was a key ingredient in malort. I think that wormwood is also a main ingredient in absinthe, and I'm told it is psychoactive in proper doses and can be toxic in higher doses.

We have somewhat the same thing here in New York. It's called Peppson's Malört and is really bitter, it's poured from a bottle of Jeppson's Malört. Peppson is Danish and migrated to New York in 2021.
