@@nepzongsf7339 ya methadone works. I'm a heroin addict in the United States and just got on June 8th. It definitely takes away withdrawals, it's not like Suboxone where you have to wait at least 24 hours of not using H, with methadone you can just dose immediately. There's definitely it's own pros and cons with methadone. But if you're constantly worried about being sick and running out of money, than it can definitely help. I would try Suboxone first though, as methadone has CAN have some nasty side effects including weight gain, hormonal changes, stopping a girls menstrual cycle, etc... Suboxone doesn't do that. So I'd try that first.

@@nepzongsf7339 and if you don't know, the reason why you have to wait with subuxone is because it will throw you into precipitated withdrawal if you don't wait long enough. It's the most intense painful withdrawal you can go through. It goes to max severity instantly if you fuck up and take subuxone too early. Again methadone doesn't do that, you don't have to wait. In fact it's normal to keep using H in the beginning while you're getting adjusted to methadone and finding your dose...

I just got on methadone. Place I'm at maxes you out at 70mg. I'm still going thru withdrawal. Got me first dose Monday dec 30th. Went again this morning and they upped it to 40mg. Each day I can up it by 10. Anyway, I've never been so sick in my life.

I had terrible stomach issues and couldn't take it anymore, so I quit cold. It was hell, but I did it. I take Kratom now in small amounts. Methadone made me gain so much weight and I was really unhealthy, eating huge amounts of sugar, so I feel fortunate that I got through it. It was really affecting my health so adversely in a myriad of ways. I realize that for some people, it's given them their life back, and I think that's awesome.

You need to be reeeeeeally careful about advocating for things like ibogaine. The science hasn't yet caught up with ibogaine or other psychedelics and tourists who seek treatment with ibogaine are often robbed, beaten, scammed, and in some cases have died from the ingestion of ibogaine that wasn't purified properly. Advocate for them to investigate it for themselves. But presenting anecdotal evidence like "my friend did ibogaine and stopped using heroin" is irresponsible.

Subutex is better for some people. Don't forget that everyone is different. I cant get Methadone to last any longer than 5 hours at best. Subs is definitely harder to start on though.

I have enjoyed my two years at my M clinic. It allows the user to stabilize and get their life in order. But be aware, it is not a “get rich quick” scheme. It can often take a few years to properly taper off of it. But most clinics will reward “good behavior” with take home doses over time so the user isn’t tethered to the clinic (I only go once a week now). It can also negatively impact your sexual functions (like most opiates can). Suboxone is another good medicine, but it often won’t help a user if their drug of choice is or tainted with Fentanyl. Suboxone is better for people who used OxyContin or Heroin. One last note about Methadone: it can drastically be affected by your current hormone situation. I’m in my mid 40’s, and I was severely lacking any testosterone in my body when I started my methadone treatment. But after 6 months or so, I started testosterone replacement therapy with a doctor, and after a few weeks, I noticed my methadone worked much better for me, and was able to get by with a much smaller dose ( I dropped from 120 mgs to 80 mgs in only a few weeks). And I was able to sleep much better. Proper hormones are important!

The methadone it's slf may be harder to kick than any other opiate..But the phase you can get to in life, With having the time to gain your strength and not go thru the roller coaster of street drug use..You gain confidence and have time to find out the strength you need, Find your God & Have time to reflect and eventually that's what makes it easier to quit..And the Euphoria from other opiates, 2 80 mgs of Oxy's say, is more of a rush..An Immediate high, euphoria, sedation, With a lighter but just as euphoric nod.. And the come down is quicker..So ..The withdrawal for methadone is longer just like the effects are longer

I speak from experience unfortunately , when I say that its a myth that suboxone should be the first choice for maintenance. Only situations like a short term 2 or 3 taper regime for the people whos dependent on lower doses of oxycodone , hydrocodone, morphine etc. And havent been a long term opiate abuser... If you stay on buprenorphine for longer than a couple weeks you tollerance will raise very dramatically even at low doses. Just because it feels like a weaker drug doesn't mean it is. Sure its safe and all but so is methadone when its dispensed daily and your being closely monitored and frequently drug tested. My own situation has been made only worse thanks to buprenorphine and this false idea of it being the superior medical treatment. I was tapering my methadone and attempting to get off it. I had attempted going cold turkey at 10mg before and after suffering a month I relapsed. So I knew I needed a better plan and help from a dr. The only doctor at the time would only prescribe suboxone even after I explained that I was already down to 10mg of methadone ever other day , and wanted to continue this way. He explained how wonderful suboxone was and that after a slow comfortable taper i would be opiate free. 6 years, $4,500.00 later and im still on suboxone . Now a methadone clinic opens, my insurance covers it and the Dr. here actually seems to care so . I made the switch and went from 4mg buprenorphine to a wopping fuckin 90mg of methadone ! The highest dose beforehand was 40mg daily . Now 90mg daily is where im at and still have much higher to go just to feel normal. Im here to warn people who are thinking of making a switch because people like you spread BS lies about a subject you actually know very little about. Unless you have lived it you dont know

First of all I have been on Suboxone twice and it was a little over a year each time. For me at first I liked it it got me high for sure and made me feel good, euphoric, for the first few months. As the months went on the euphoria and the feeling of not craving other opiates started to go away. I couldn’t sleep at night very well and I didn’t really feel too much emotion about anything. I was pretty numb and it seemed like Suboxone wasn’t helping me much anymore so then I started mixing benzodiazepines with it to get that euphoric feeling again, and just to be clear the whole time on Suboxone I wasn’t receiving any counseling or nor was I attending any meetings. Anyway eventually the second time on subs I got bad with it and benzodiazepines and went to detox. Basically I told them I wanted to go cold turkey from taking 16 mg a day to nothing and I did. I hear a lot about Methadone withdrawals being bad and people I feel don’t realize that Suboxone withdrawal isn’t as bad. Well it is and I was sick for 2 months, I felt crippled like a 90 year old man. I couldn’t sleep but I was tired all day, it really really sucked. The point is if I would of taken the time when ready to properly taper myself off, it probably wouldn’t of been nearly as bad but still not fun. So since then I’ve been sober on and off for the past 8 years and it’s def a struggle. Meetings are the only thing in my opinion that truely work. Even so I kept relapsing and the past 4 or 5 months I’ve been working so much with my business that I went back out and started buying Methadone from a friend for top dollar instead of going to the clinic like a smart guy. The reason I never went is because the stigma attached to it which for the most part is true. People go there to get high and not be sick, they go there to find and talk to other people about where to get this and that, they basically use it as a bandaid when they are sick and a connection for other drugs. I decided a few weeks ago to try out the clinic in my town that is fairly new maybe just over a year old and have a open mind and see what it’s about with a open mind. Now this is in a smaller town and this clinic is not a dosing clinic. There’s never a wait or a line of people outside smoking and talking about drugs. It’s more like a doctors office with a very friendly staff that really care and are there to help. So I use that to my advantage to get the help I need along with going to meetings. I see my counselor 2 tines a week and if I want I can do it as many tines as I want as long as you go once a month. One of the first things I did ask was how are we going to get me off of this one day without it being hell. They were straight up with their answer and told me that they have had a “couple” of patients that have done it so far successfully. You have to be ready first of all and serious about your recovery because I do understand like I said about 85% of the people that go there are there to get High and fuck around. So it takes a while to reduce your dose and come off. If yiu reduce it too fast you will feel like shit so maybe go back up and try again but anyway eventually you get down to nothing the yes you have to deal with withdrawal still but not nearly as bad as to just stop taking it. That’s the problem with all the people commenting online they either weren’t ready or didn’t do it properly and just stopped taking it. All this gives Methadone a bad reputation and makes people like me feel like a junkie for going there even though I’m serious about my recovery. Now I know I haven’t personally tapered and came off methadobe but I have friends that have and I have friends that take it for the right reasons and get to a dose to where they don’t feel withdrawal and stay at that, not just upping it to some ridiculous amount every tine the done stops “working” and they don’t get High anymore. Well that’s about it I’ve been on it for 3 months and I just started using it legit from the clinic a few weeeks ago. I’m at 80 now and I’m fine all day and night I might eventually go up just a little more but as long as I don’t have cravings and my energy level is good I won’t go up anymore. So far I feel good and normal, I have energy and I enjoy doing thjngs. Now I know for sure it’s not the same as being sober and I don’t get that natural euphoria and dopamine but I feel good emotionally. For me it’s better then Suboxone and it doesn’t make me numb so I will keep taking it till I get my life straight again and when I’m ready and in a good place, I was thinking between a year and 2 years I will start tapering off and continue using the program until I’m fully sober again. It works and I know people that it worked for, it just has a bad stigma and there’s a lot of addicts out there that want help but are in hiding bc they are embarrassed and don’t want to be labeled a junkie for trying something like Methadone. It’s funny I know plenty of old timers in the rooms that are on all sorts of drugs like xanex and pain pills, some are on adderol but the point is they claim 10 20 years of being sober but if you’re on done and doing all these things too they would give yiu shit for using and in their minds you’re not sober but either way if it’s working for you and you’re using it right it’s no different then those people. People like that contribute to the reason why addicts don’t get help and go out use again and to me that’s some bull shit we are people to and need support from the community to get help and change our jives and until then there will always be more and more addicts to afraid to ask for help and people will keep dying.

the only thing i think you aren't right about is the zero tolerance policy, my clinic will not kick you at all for testing positive, they just remove your take home status. my first day in treatment, a guy was talking to me and he said "look, they don't care if you use. you're probably going to need to." My first week I told my counselor that I had used a two days a week while i was on methadone and she said "wow thats really good because you were an everyday user."

here in Ireland the same. we are human, every1 makes mistakes or fails. nobody is kicked out from the program, only no takeway possibility for a while. I have been on methadone 40-50 /winter 50, summer 40/ for 3 years and did not take anything, not even a pill since then. And. I dont drink since Im on methadone. So for me is a lifesaver and I have no pain at all. /I had horrible chronic pain, even after my brain surgery, so I was put on Perca, Oxy etc. Then the pain stayed with me but they refused to prescribe the painkillers after 10 years or so. I started to buy pills and then snorted h, bc it was /pills/ very expensive and my tolerance became high. sometimes I simple wished not to wake up in the morning bc of the pain. I quit my job /i worked with a governmental office so I would be fired if I did present a positive drug test/ so I left my job, I moved another EU country and I have a happy, painless life, in a country where ppl are not judgemental and hateful. Methadone will be a life long medication for me and I dont mind

Another problem is (Subutex) half life is shorter lived, and or my metabolism of subutex is faster than m-done....But I feel better in my thinking and memory.

I'm doing good, it's such a huge relief to not be waking up in withdrawal and worried about how I'm gonna get well 24/7. I'm also not spending any money anymore, because my insurance covers the methadone completely. The clinic is also super nice, everyone treats me really good and the Dr. is super cool. As for the question about the sweets, before while I was still on heroin I had huge sugar cravings and was consuming unrealistic amounts of sugar. I'm not alone in this, it happens to my family and friends too. Many addicts I know crave sugar and sweets. I still lost much weight during my addiction though. I was 190lbs before, I'm now 120lbs. I'm actually feeling more normal on the methadone so far. I've only been on Heroin for about 1.5yrs, almost 2. My habit grew super quickly though and I very quickly was doing multiple grams a day, and spending a minimum of 200$ a day. Just not sustainable. Also, in the US fentanyl is becoming more and more prevalent everywhere. I'm in New Mexico where it's all black tar heroin. Over just the past 2 years fentanyl has started to overtake. Now it's these "blues" "dirty 30's" they're called, which are pills pressed with fentanyl that look like oxycontin 30's. People smoke em usually. A lot of addicts have actually switched to that and stopped shooting up. you can still overdose smoking these pills though. Even the black tar heroin is becoming cut with fentanyl. It's causing so many deaths. And the fent only lasts 2-4 hours before you're in withdrawal. And the withdrawal is way worse than heroin... I never got on the pills, I tried em a couple times, but I always stuck to good quality black tar H because I knew the fent was just gonna make things harder. Not trying to say any of it's good though, it's not, it's all bad! I hope you don't mind me mentioning all of this and being so honest about it. The methadone is saving my ass though. I'm looking forward to getting a job and going to back to college, I think it totally help me do that. Before I was always just worried about being sick.

@@ClareSw I started at 30mg and am at 100mg today. The doc had me going up 10mg a day until at 70mg, than 5mg a day until I'm at 120mg. Then we'll see how I feel. I don't know if this is normal, but I think he did me this favor because he knew how big my habit and tolerance was, and because he wanted me off H immediately. I'm only 20yrs old, and the doc could see I wasn't your average junkie. I still have so much to live for and give and my life hasn't even started. I'm a very educated person and he could see that. So far it's been good. It was rough the first few days, and I had to keep using H, but now I think I'm starting to get adjusted and I haven't been needing to use. I still have cravings though. The methadone also doesn't get me sleepy or tired or high or anything. Just keeping me normal, which I'm so thankful for. It's a miracle honestly. I know a lot of people do get high or sleepy from a big methadone dose though, so I guess I'm an exception, because ya it's just keeping me well. The doc even said I could go past 120mg if it's not cutting it for me. I know it's not smart to get on too a big of a dose though cause there can be some nasty side effects, I've seen it first hand effect my family. Weight gain, hormonal changes, stopping menstrual cycle, etc... I hear if you stay at a low dose or under 70mg or 80mg that you'll be fine though, and you can avoid those side effects. I'm hoping I can lower myself or something, but for now I just need to focus on getting comfortable and feeling ok and able to function and do stuff. And if I need a bigger dose for that, than so be it lol.

Yeah dude thats not a myth. They really do try to keep you on it. I have been on it 9 years and I cant say it didnt save my life and immediately got me clean. The first day I took methadone I never once looked back or used drugs again. It took me 6 years but once I got to 13 take homes I really didnt care about coming off but one day I decided I wanted to come down 2 mg a week from 170mg. I went to see the dr and she managed to convince me to raise my dose! I had tried coming down a couple times over the years but they really do make it difficult. One time I wanted to come down and she said I could but would loose 7 take homes so Id have to go every week instead of every 2 weeks. I also heard countless stories over the years of similar things happening to other patients. I dont know why they care so much about $100 a week when they have 1200 clients....

I awful that in USA you have to visit the clinic daily and PAY for that. i found myself very lucky being in italy, here thw program is totally free with weekly supply. I kicked methadone once, tapering from 120mgs/die to ZERO in couple of months. It wasnt bad with a proper taper and some other meds to help (like benzos and clonidine). now im on buprenorphine (6mgs/die) but I hate it. It doenst cover my cravings, and I still taking stuff on top of that (its useless cause bupe block other opiate but you know, junkie-thinkin). Im definitly came back to methadone, i want my life back.

Suboxone doesn't work for me personally Methadone has been life changing for me I am on 130mg. Right now probably going to end up on 200-300mg I personally need a high dose because of the amount of uncut Fentanyl I was smoking it allowed me to put down the foil and pick up my future 🔮 and take control of my life I can feel more normal however the process of going to the clinic every day is a huge pain

when you take a drug like an opioid, long term damage is dealt to the brain and body, to save time i will make this easy to understand. when you take a dose eg 10mg of methadone and feel a high you would rate 10/10, upon taking 10mg of methadone again you may not experience 10/10, this is because your body builds a RESISTANCE to the drug, resulting in higher doses to achieve the same high. i hope this helps!

Lmao that's funny man. I haven't been getting high from it. Just dosed this morning 100mg. Doesn't get me tired or high or nothing. Definitely keeping me out of withdrawal though. I'm still craving though. Later in the day, like after 8pm I actually start to feel like complete shit. However I'm still going up. I just got into the clinic June 8th, and started at 30mg. The doctor was super cool though and had me getting raised 10mg a day until at 70mg, and now I'm going 5mg up a day until at 120mg, than I'll chill there a bit to see how I do/feel.

I did have quite the habit though. Of course it would vary from time to time, but on average it was 2-4 grams of Black Tar H a day. Very good quality shit too. All I.V. use. I've only been using for about 1.5years almost 2 and my brother who is a veteran addict says I'm lucky cause I've never had to deal with shit heroin or shit drugs haha.

I do think there must be fent or analogs in everything now though, because I was unable to switch to Suboxone even after dosing 32mg everyday for a full week. I didn't sleep once that week, and by the end it of I relapsed of course and also had to knock my ass out with a bunch of Xanax. Awful experience. Also as of yesterday last night, on 95mg of Methadone, I could still feel and get high from doing a nice shot of dark. I dunno man.

You are on a too high dose. it is too much 4 u. methadone should be comfy enough not to have wd for next day. but it you are nodding day by day why don't you ask for a taper asap. it is not the fault of methadone. It is a great med. in a proper dosage

I would give this video 100 likes if i could. Suboxone is terrific as it eliminates cravings entirely. The main drawback for suboxone is waiting to take it for the first time because if taken too soon it will precipitate a NASTY withdrawal! Thats the main problem with subs-waiting to take it. Because aside from being medically detoxed, most folks will go get a bag rather than wait the unbearable symptoms out until it is safe to take a suboxone. That’s really the only downside, but its a major one. It causes constipation, too. But with subs and counseling anyone can get off of heroin. God bless, yall

Bupe/Suboxone/Subutex is a horrible replacement for Methadone, and so much more toxic than Methadone.. Methadone is meant mainly for long term where Bupe is meant more for a 1-2 month detox.
