Fantastic informational video about “Moonshine”. You’re doing a great job and you’ve got the best material available for the home distiller. You have an amazing ability to show someone how to do it and to make people feel comfortable in trying. Thanks, again.

My Boy bought me a bottle of moonshine for fathers day firefly, distilled in Kentucky aged for 30 seconds in South Carolina, 100.7 proof - 50.35 abv. My first ever taste of moonshine, very nice indeed. Thanks for the videos Randy. South Wales UK.

Fairly good explanation of what moonshine is. Basically it’s still made the same. Main difference instead of enzymes like we have now the enzymes were extracted from malted grains to convert starches to fermentable sugars. Like you said it can be flavored to your preference. Drink what you like and make what you drink and you will never be disappointed. It’s yours and if no else likes it screw them because it’s yours and it’s what you like. Cheers my friend and keep it up.

In South Africa, our traditional moonshine (illegal liquor) was known as "witblits", which translates to white lightning. We also have a tradition of "mampoer" which is a non-commercial fruit brandy - often peaches but often flavoured with berries and other fruit, and was made illegally on many farms. The excise authorities used to seek and destroy these illegal stills. Currently in South Africa, distilling for home use is legal as long as you register your still (for safety!) and don't exceed certain quantities of alcoholic beverages in your home.

Very interesting video. But I do feel rum can also fall into the moonshine category. Where molasses was used instead of sugar because of availability

It's been really fun randy love your recipes and no nonsense approach. Just about to make some cherry and toasted coconut rum, I normally use defrosted morello cherries but this time I will be using canned cherry pie filling. 😋

Is it probably a silly question but have you ever made any jolly rancher moonshine it's great fun experimenting with the different flavours and also if you can get them over there uncle Joe's mint balls make an amazingly tasty spirit 😊

Moonshine is just a name. Possession of un taxed spirits is illegal under federal law. Possession of a still is illegal in some states, others it is not. Distillation of water has many purposes in modern society. Cleaning vinyl records, cleaning respiratory breathing apparatus, cooking and baking. Some state laws have not caught up to modern society and the usefulness of a still. What it boils down to (pun) 🙄 What does: Whiskey, Bourbon, Vodka, Tequila, Brandy, Cognac, Rye, and Gin have in Common ??? Almost NOTHING, and Absolutely EVERYTHING. Nothing = Each ferment of ingredients is different. Everything = They are Distilled. Cheers Randy!

Mason jars because they have a legitimate use so buying 50 attracts no attention, Buying 50 whisky bottles does attract attention.
