I think one of the reasons you and your channel are so popular is that you're real and down-to-earth. Hi sir from here in the Uk , I think I would describe you as an eccentric which is not meant in a derogatory way far from it . I don’t think anyone on KZbin is a comparison to your good self . The guided tour was indeed enlightening , with the mix of speakers ranging from the good the bad and definitely the indifferent . As to how much you fund this your self is a question that one or two have thrown into the mix . But I suspect a good deal of it is funded by you , which brings in the obvious truth that you genuinely are concerned for the person who has little in the way of resources . So from me my total admiration for your quest . Best wishes and kind and kind regards to you and your family 😀👍👍👍

I will show this to my better 3/4 to demonstrate that my hoarding of various equipment and media (8 tracks are coming back) could be worse. Or better. It's all perspective. There's some joy and satisfaction in being surrounded by one's interests. Synapses fire, connections are made. There is harmony is the noise of life. I enjoy seeing that when a guy has the desire to communicate and help others, you can make it happen. You don't have to wait until this or that happens, or life is perfect or free of distractions (e.g. rugrats). You are an inspiration. Also, let me know when you have a garage sale, and set aside the good stuff for me, alright?

This is why the channel has grown. Those are far-from-perfect rooms which represents the average home, including mine. The beauty is the absence of perfection in this video. No “treatments”. No uniform arrangement of anything. It’s a home, not a studio or a museum. That’s where the perfection is very evident in this video. This video made me proud to be here. But that’s just me. @@Jason787 Not too many have a proper room. Even with a proper room, the opinion is still going to be subjective because people listen differently and have different sound preferences and music tastes. There is no perfect or near perfect scenario that will suit everyone’s listening perceptions when that source is a KZbin Channel. It’s not possible. A viewer of such channels should be easily aware of that. The growth of this channel is very indicative that Randy hits far more than he ever misses. Though in my opinion, he hasn’t really missed, resulting in the fast growth of his channel, which has been very impressive. I think the majority of his viewers know that it’s their own ears, within their own environment, that will be the deciding factor regarding if a piece of kit is good or not. Thank goodness for 30-day return policies…😜

i found the sound base to be powerful but thin, by the time it had any sort of low end the top end was over-bearing.. much prefer the sound of both my onkyo nr696 and pioneer lx104, and the "control" app was pathetic returned with-in the trial period, tone control/eq would have been nice and some sort of actual control

@@robc7812 My main complaint is the volume dial. I don’t know how it works, but it doesn’t feel like there’s a potentiometer in there. It feels artificial, almost like volume presets or something. Also, it really needs two sub outs instead of just one. Using a y cable to get two subs seems inelegant. Other than that , I really like the sound. It sounds amazing with the Prime bookshelf, which I guess isn’t surprising. It also sounded great with the Emotiva Airmotiv B1+. Then again, I’m still new to the hobby, but I think I’ve learned that I prefer analytical and detailed to thick and warm.

@@RdandTrk1 i do tend to like warm and rich, i have the same issue with my pair of pb1000 pros. i tend to turn them off and listen to my polk s60 towers on their own for most music listening prefer the sound. and playing the towers on full with subs (double bass) doesnt sound right to me either. denon tends to be flat pioneer leans more towards mids and lows onkyo has a bit more powerful of a sound good bass, yamaha has good bass and pushes the top a bit more than all the rest u shaped id say, marantz has a nice rich sound lighter on bass than all but denon. a combo i actually do like a lot right now is denon 540bt with jamo s803 bookshelves and s810 sub have yet to play that set up at reference level but low to medium volume its great... -10 is about as loud as i play it (bedroom setup) best i can put how i prefer sound is i have a set of dcm a10 3 way towers and the polk s60 towers the a10 are more detailed the polks are richer and deeper, i prefer the polks

No ... nowadays I deal with them not fully moving out, ie.. their cars still in our driveway, their boxes still stacked to the ceiling in multiple rooms, their rooms still in a holding pattern... And I wouldn't have it any other way... it's all to be cherished, and I love every minute. I used to have big speakers back when I started out and moved to smaller ADS, B&W, Yamaha, Klipsch and several others, each has its place and unique sound. I found the clarity was better and with quality components and computer designs they still had good bass. Of course subwoofers do help if you want to go even lower. I did get some Sony SSCS5 speakers for my daughter and am quite impressed for the price.

What a humble tour! Nice balance of being a successful KZbinr and most importantly a family man. Keep it up! Nice to see your setup is what most us have and not a perfectly designed 250k listening room with TOTL equipment :)

Awesome video Randy. Thank you for the awesome tour. I don't have kid's toys around my house much as my kids are much older, but with 4 cats and a small dog, there are toys throughout and cardboard boxes everywhere... both boxes from incoming Amazon and other online shopping and boxes for the cats to play in. Love seeing your reality. Thank you for sharing.

This was very human, felt like we're connecting to real person. Thank you! I have no problem with clutter; yes I am a neat freak but I like the detritus of life more. However it did seem to me you need a system for managing your incoming and outgoing packages and also maybe to triage out some gear that maybe you will never use again. Try the Marie Kondo test: go around the room, pick something up and ask yourself "does this spark joy in me?" :)

So this is what it takes to have one of the most prolific audio gear review channels on KZbin; a helluva lot of space and a very understanding wife/family. 🙂 Thanks for sharing. My listening space is also too close to the wall on the left channel, it is what it is. Doesn't mean I won't have a hi-fi setup just because I don't have a perfect room.

Really appreciate that vid Randy Unfortunately all my kids have flown the nest . Unless you build it, I don't think anyone has the perfect room, but most of the fun comes from moving stuff around, and picking the speaker or speakers to fit . Top class channel ...

I agree, the real take away from this video is that you can get excellent sound from a wide variety of equipment in many different listening environments. You do not need a perfect room, and good sounding equipment can exist at any price point. Excellent video :)

I thought my house was a mess with multiple speakers in each room, but you got me beat hands down. I've got all but one pair set up for listening in each room. For two channel stereo, I rotate my extra set of speakers with other sets whenever I get bored with the ones I have hooked up. I go into different rooms during the day to get a different music experience. I'm retired if you haven't guessed and do a lot of reading while listening to music. I wonder what my sons will do with all this hifi gear after I'm gone. They are not into this stuff and think the Powerbeats are great earbuds. They can't be bothered with stuff they have to lug around. Can't worry about that. I'm having too much fun listening to my music systems.

Thanks for the tour! I don't have any ideal listening areas anywhere in my house either, they're just not built with audio enthusiasts in mind. Just got to learn to make the best of what we have. Also, our house is a perpetual mess too, I have no idea how some people manage to keep theirs spotless.
