This is something I have lost by working from home. Structured exercised just cannot compete with NEAT. But I will say this: Exercise is good for getting stronger.

Your analogy makes sense for people who smash the gym in the morn, but what about people who work during the day with not so sedentary jobs and smash the gym at night? < or > fatloss?

It would probably be best to view it over a 24 hour period. For example, if you train hard on day 1 right before bed, do you move less on day 2 than you normally would? Maybe grab a pedometer as a crude indicator

Greetings from California. I've also heard of NEAT and how that aids in burning calories for most people. Still, I'd like to ask how naturally thin people like myself must tolerate NEAT since NEAT is apparently a lifelong frenemy to those trying to put on muscle and mass.

Okay, but as an IT guy who works from home by just sitting, it is very hard to increase the calories burned from NEAT. So, even though I cook, clean, shop, still the thing I should focus on is "Doing planned cardio". Isn't it true?

What about getting one of those desk walking pads? My wife uses one and walks on it VERY slowly when doing some computer tasks that allow it and her step count went up thousands per day 🙂
