Excellent discussion. Interesting point that focus must be on fundamental R&D which had been lacking so far. Except drdo, little fundamental research had come out of india.

Lovely discussion, would love to see more industry players! A suggestion, the questions were too long, interruptions too many. Could have allowed them to talk freely.

For universities to do breakthrough research, the private companies must provide research grant so that they as well as universities along with the country can benefit from it. You can't just ask universities to do more research without creating grants for them to work on breakthrough technologies.

Ordinance factories should be number one, there should be a separate ministry called military and space industry and someone senior and pro privatization like Gadkari should be heading it.

Eye opener video. I am shocked and ashamed to BJP if they have not bothered to deliver in Ladakh. I have otherwise been a strong believer in BJP's intentions. I really hope they take immediate action and address the issues of ladakh people. Too priority requirement towards the people who have been representing the country so loyally at our fronts and the most difficult terrain. Jai Hind !

Gadkari should be given a biomass and alternate energy ministry asap, the man is a freaking expert on ethanol and alt energy. He wanted to convert excess Indian crop and stubble which gets burnt, in to biomass and ethanol and has been very successful in the little work he has done. Modi and Shah need to come out of insecurity and give this man more ministries.

University research needs overhaul- too little research and whatever funds go get leaked ( like the leakage Rajeev Gandhi referred - fake persons receiving research scholarships ) - it needs to be better managed through some central IT portals with checks and balances- at least we will know what all is being researched and what was the quality of outcome.

@@arrshath you’re right. The government should increase indirect taxes and cut direct taxes - this is what Subramaniam Swamy proposed a few years ago.
