Thank you for this video. I am hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. I was denied a chance to go to a deaf school because i wasn't deaf enough and now i struggle in my adult life trying to fit in the hearing world. Its nice to hear stories like this, make me feel less alone.

Aaron, as a deaf woman.. I relate to this so much. Especially being told your not deaf enough, don't sign well enough and because I have hearing aids, some people have done the 'hearing' mind thing to me aswell. I appreciate this video so much 💛💛💛

I’m almost 50 now. I am severely hearing impaired and went to a public school where I was “the deaf kid” or as one teacher told the principal when she forgot to turn off the microphone for my auditory trainer: “the retard.” I compensate well, but it’s a battle and a struggle. I get more tired trying at 50 than I did when I was a student, a teenager, or an angry 20 year old. Now, I spend more time just wearing my hearing aids, but powered off-like ear plugs-when I shop or engage in the public. I find that at 50, I’m still apologizing for not hearing. I find that at 50, I am less inclined to try or worry about hearing what others around me say-I am bolder about telling them that if they have something worth saying, they need to make more of the effort to communicate and not demand so much of me. But that’s a difficult position to take in a hearing world. Thanks for your story. I can relate. I guess I’m discovering that maybe there are some out there that might be able to relate to my experience too. Thank you.

Aaron I thought I was the only one experiencing everything you have described. I wish some how we could communicate privately. I started losing my hearing late at the age of approximately 28. I can speak but my hearing is profound deaf. Because I can speak and not hear is a challenge. People just don't believe me. I struggle everyday of my life. I don't want pity from no one I want understanding,. That's all. However we live in a cruel world no one will understand the challenge that we go throu unless they experience it themselves. I praise you for being strong. Maybe iv not met the person that can just talk t

Aaron, Thank You for sharing your story💞 I’m sure it isn’t easy but you manage to push through it all and you’re a Angel for that. I will take this knowledge and use in my everyday routine. I will remember you when I encounter a deaf rather it’s in New York Pennsylvania Philadelphia or in the store. Much love and god bless you🙏🏽

This video was soooo dope (if you’re still in contact with Aaron) could you ask if he knows of any places or websites that offer free ASL classes? I’ve been trying to become fluent for awhile but, I don’t have enough money to take legitimate classes.

Bigger city seems like it would be easier to live as deaf because you won’t seen them again after embarrassing from deaf moment. I live in a small town where everybody knows everybody and you have to face them after embarrassing moment. Some are nice to understand my struggle and some needs to take how to be nice to people class. Lol

What’s his IG? I knew someone who sorta catfished me for years using him. I wasn’t dating the guy but I used to play with him on psn and we followed each other on IG, this was the face I knew until a couple years back when he just changed his whole feed to his real face. I was like WTF who is this 😂😂😂. Ive been trying to find out who this guy is for the longest. I just saw his LinkedIn Ad today.
