Valley of Fire State Park is a "must-see", not very far from Lake Mead. Rock formations everywhere and a very nice (though a fee-area) campground. When you exit the Park on Interstate-15, you are between Las Vegas and Mesquite. Lake Mead is starting to look like Anza-Borrego in Southern California, not scary yet but coming ! Very nice video, full of memories for me. Thank you so much ! RICHARD

Hey, Russ, great video of Lake Mead and campsites. Las Vegas gets about 74% of it's water from Lake Mead. All water from drains, etc. are funneled to a treatment facility, cleaned and returned back to the lake. I thought you'd be interested to know that. Happy Trails!

Hi Russ! Echo bay on the lake has a nice campground, very similar to the one in this video but, they also have a tiny general store, and restaurant. I don't know how far out the launch is now . we used to take our little boat out there all the time. We haven't been in two years but always liked echo bay the best Oh! and an abandoned luxury resort that's super creepy but its all still there and you can see how it used to be kinda fancy😀 As always, love from Las Vegas to you😘

In 2012 I purchased my senior pass as I entered Yosemite at the south entrance for only $10. It's good for a lifetime and never expires and gets the holder's vehicle and occupants into any national park and some fee based national forests. Camping fees are additional. I heard the price has increased to $80 and is no longer lifetime, but that might be incorrect.

That's crazy, me and dog were there just two years ago (2020) and the ramp where that sunken boat was at was actively used. Vegas and Arizona better pack up and go away. At this rate they'll be trying to figure out how to capture clouds for water. Well that explains the Californian who tried to get water from Seattle so he could tow it in big sausages to L.A. 😄
@spankroy2 жыл бұрын
It would be interesting to see a breakdown in where the water ends up by percentage. I know Las Vegas treats wastewater that is pumped back into Lake Mead, so they are not as heavy users as one would expect for such a large metro area. If California wasn't run by the current galaxy brains in charge, we should be able to install desalination plants along the coastal areas using solar/offshore wind to power them. Israel has implemented newer technology they use for desalination which requires far less maintenance on the filtration side compared to traditional desalination plants.
@gargar81962 жыл бұрын
I’m glad someone else is talking about desalination plants needed. It will take four or five years to build a desalination plant or longer we need them now. Can also power them with natural gas
