Organizational change management is an often overlooked and misunderstood workstream during ERP and HCM implementations. Some think of it as an activity to make people feel good during transformations. Some view it as simply employee training and communications, while others think that certifications like PROSCI or Kotter are what enable change.
But organizational change management is much more than that. It is a critical success factor that should deliver tangible results. There is no one-size-fits-all solution or methodology, but there are some key frameworks and tools that can be used to make your transformation change initiatives more successful, including:

A super great summary! I am diving into your materials now. I totally agree about staying away from the cookie cutters. You have to know the basics, but so much of the application has to resonate with the client.

Best video on OCM that I have watched! I would enjoy learning more about your system. My main interest is business structure and I want to put people in their correct roles using Ernest Sirelli's business structure: product or service, marketing/sales, and financial controls and analysis but perhaps adding a CEO to facilitate communication between the three legs of this stool.

Good presentation and information on change management. Thank you for your insights. I was looking for strategies on how to influence change, especially when implementing new systems. Communication is the bedrock of change but it can also lead to misunderstanding. How about why write when you can speak, and why speak when you can nod.

@@erickimberling Thank you! I'm currently working towards hopefully working as a Organizational Change Manager, however the closest to credentials I have is my experience from the military. So I'm currently observing and educating myself as best I can to further understand how this occupation, and my job within logistics correspond. I feel that this has helped me tremendously. Eric, this gives an excellent overview of change management and what is required for change to be effective. I am working on my doctorate in business administration, and the course I just started is called "Leading Organizational Change." This video was included for us to view and was very helpful. Hi Eric, I have an interview scheduled. What do you think are some aspects of change management that I can emphasize in the interview to win over the panel? If you were on the panel, what would reassure you? I have digested this video and other research, and I am actively covering all my bases, but I thought it would be good to get some feedback.

I would focus on culture, change impact, communications - enough to demonstrate that you understand some of the major work streams of change. If you have the background, I would also highlight your operational / business experience, which helps make a better change consultant. I hope this helps and good luck!
