We use Override Driving WCS to leverage in-process probing on our Haas CNC machines. This feature is especially useful when combined with a zero point workholding system or a fixture plate.

Mastercam lets you set different offsets for each tool path. I’ve been missing that feature in fusion ever since switching. Didn’t realize i could do that with a folder. Thanks for the tip!

Great video! One tip-if you select a Haas machine definition in your setup (any generic one will work as long as it's configured with a Haas post), the Post Process tab gives you the option of toggling explicitly to extended work coordinates so you can enter offsets like 8 or 73 without having to do the math.

Very helpful thank you. I remember Grimsmo said he would pass you on subscribers but I don't ever see that happening as you really provide some great information to those wanting to learn.

Cool stuff. I used to do it almost as standard practice, but then I probed a chip and scrapped a part. now I use it only when really needed and I always put a stop in there for me to manually clear the chips if needed.

Great tip! I always wondered how that worked.

Just started using this on my 5axis trunnion! Nothing is perfect and on a machine without scales it has allowed me to adjust faces of a part from hot to cold and hold sub .001 when needed

I am new to CNC CAM but am teaching myself for a machine my father purchased. I love your channel. I am finding very hard to fully understand the wcs offset stuff. Do you have any good videos dumbing that down? This one did me a lot of good but still feel some of it I don’t fully understand

When we do this we add a pass thru with macros to set the z in the setting wcs equal to the master wcs

I still use those same tiny vise clamps I got from the original mod vises.

Probing it the way your probing it on op2 is still going to give you error on your holes as your only probing one side. its technically not achieving anything different than using the hard stops. You need to either probe both sides of the part to find the mid point or probe a hole to take out any error from tool wear etc.

Wouldn’t you technically need to probe 2 diagonal holes to ensure the holes were not only offset in x or y but that the part was not skewed in the fixture as well?
@mattgregory1239
@mattgregory1239 Ай бұрын
@bcbloc02 you could probe 1 edge to set the angle. But you would still need to probe 2 opposite edges to take out any error from tool wear

Good stuff! I tried getting them to add something like driven and shift or something along those names to the naming. I didn’t win that one 🤷‍♂️

What computer do you have, because it runs real smooth. Last years updates made one of our PC's completely unusable for Fusion. We need an upgrade but I'd like to know what a good investment is.
