Photography for me is just taking my camera out, go to nature, go outside, take a walk, emerge in sound and weather, taking memories not photos, without post procesing and editing, sometimes you get nice photo, sometimes just blury reminder of a wonderful experience, just enjoying like a kid who got new sports or cartoon sticker for his new album, this is how I feel when I shoot new image. Just enjoy the moment and forgotten about KZbin, Instagram, likes and social media, enjoy photography.

really great video man! I'm going to ponder this for a while. I think photography for me is a way of documenting and remembering moments in a creative and visually pleasing way. I use photography to capture moments I don't want to forget, places I went that I really enjoyed, and things from the past that may or may not exist anymore. For example, One thing I really like to photograph is old buildings. There is something about an old decaying building that can be very visually pleasing and evoke interesting feelings. I also feel it is my duty as a photographer to capture things like this because they may not be around very long and will become forgotten.

Yes, when I take photos I walk, alot. «Meditating»: for me it is not about sitting in a dark room and making wierd noices, I go out. I walk. «Being creative»: Potography making me creative. Im thinking out of the box. «Being social»: Im outside with follow photographers. And at the end: All those «keepers» are the icing on that huge cake🎂

for me when I'm creating photography it's about capturing something that evokes a feeling in me most of the time, occasionally it's about documentation. when I'm consuming it I'm looking for something that draws me in, that makes me want to be in that time or place. Or that makes me feel something. when I'm going through my own work it's to see where I was at emotionally or creatively at that time or to recall old memories. overall for me I'd say for me photography for me is an emotive exercise something like meditation, relaxation and or self reflection. depending of course on what I'm looking at or creating.

For my party it is documentary. Mostly of the grandchildren out and about in coffee shops or shopping centres . Also the woods and NT properties . This leads in too my secondary interest that once had been my primary choice : street . This enables holidays to be embraced in these activities , whether day outs or for longer. I am looking to create timeless pieces that will tell a story and capture the development of these little people as they grow. The best of this photos go in to photo books and their number is growing . Nobody does photo albums anymore it seems : hence, the photo book being the replacement of such ideas , where we stuck and saved our prints. You make some interesting points that should evoke many to question why they take photos . There may be some who just say they love just making images , but if they were to drill down a bit , and this goes for all those whose primary use of a lens is on their phones, they would find that we all share a common goal when we take a photo. What we do with those images defines the type of photographer we want to be . So , thank you for asking the question .

One thought on the quote of Steven Pinkler: For nature photography it is the exact other way around. We are actually living in a very complex and extremely interesting world which photography isn’t able to describe - not even close. You can never document the depth of your feelings you had in a specific situation for another person as you are only limited to vision to tell the story. So for me it is something through which I can express myself creatively on the one hand and document the situation on the other hand. The more you are engaged in a shot of a nature scene, the more you connect with nature itself. It is like carrying the scene in your heart for the rest of your life. And sometimes it feels like coming home. 🙂
@teocrawford3 жыл бұрын
Uhh what a perspective, thanks for sharing! It definitely holds some truth to it. I often have this issue of not knowing how to photograph certain scenes in nature because I simply don't know how to communicate the feeling in photography🤷🏻♂️

I’m just getting back into film photography. My first SLR was an Olympus OM2n which my father bought for me in the 90s when I started art college. For me photography became really interesting when it was a medium to start my creative process. I could use the image to create mixed media artwork, combining it with other processes. The photo itself isn’t used in print form, but “copied” and “reused” in other creative ways. Photocopying, screen printing, stenciling etc. Otherwise, I only use photographic images to capture memories and places.

Hi Teo, for me photography is capturing something which interests my thinking...or that can trigger a person's thoughts. Hmm the 14-140mm is extremely flexible and I used to only use that lens. However the aperture will not go very low with that lens, therefore I bought the 20mm f/1.7, which is fantastic. I believe Diane Arbus was trying to convey the narrative aspect of any given photograph. Just how our eyes may fail to read the story of all that we see, naturally photography suffers the same fate as it is to an extent an extension of our very eyes, unless we try to understand the context and story that our vision falls short of, by our other senses. Our vision alone might not be enough to get the actual story happening, and so by taking photos of the same would only add a layer of mystery by capturing only the visual element of the story and removing it from all other nonvisual contexts. If the story was a secret, the photography became another secret, but of the same secret. A photograph cannot add any meaning to what isn't understood in the first place.
