my s/o recently came out as polyamorous to me. here’s the thing though, they have feelings for someone else at the same time as me and i’m not sure how to feel still. i’m looking into it to see if i can understand it anymore, so thanks for making this!

Sweets, maybe you best move on, don't want to be so harsh but he should have told you this in the beginning, not whenever he felt like it. He sounds like a prick to me.

It’s because we have insecurities and jealousy is always the issue your not poly stay away unless your in a long term loving relationship that’s sold and committed it’s impossible to even consider poly unless you already did it however I know I lost everything including businesses it’s not helpful or healthy for any relationship to go in this direction but mine will I did one weller and will again future

I had a very superficial understanding of Polyamory(all I knew that its a relationship with multiple parties who all consent) recently my mom watched a show about Polyamory (probably on TLC) and she ranted to me and my sister about how gross polyamory is. this video really enlighted me on relationships and how diverse they can be

Ha yeah, I wouldn’t expect much from TLC! Or any show where they just want ratings and don’t care about the actual lived experiences of humans.

As a non-hierarchical poly person, I would contest the idea that our romantic relationships are necessarily ranked higher than non-romantic relationships. I don't rank my relationships based on the type of feelings I have for them; I classify them based on the type and intensity of intimacy present. There is no ranking system, and I hate phrases like "Just Friends" or "More than Friends" for this reason. To be fair, my personal poly philosophy falls somewhere between solo poly, egalitarian poly, and relationship anarchy, though I do strongly believe that poly is just a part of my orientation, not a choice.

I do agree that there are poly people who don't rank their romantic relationships, although it's not very common. Or it's becoming more common due to relationship anarchy. I don't ever want to speak in absolutes, people can identify any way and believe what they wish, there will always be people who fall outside the lines (yay outside the lines!).

this is great thank you. I can relate to polyamorous that love is not finite. and value romantic relationships more.

No this is definitely cheating. We are giving to much power to people. This is absolutely delusional.

How do you define cheating? In my definition cheating implies dishonesty. If people are completely honest and consenting, where is the dilemma? If all parties involved are happy, what harm is being done?

Well yes and no meet a healthy one and understand why many try this it avoids separation basically it’s a use to keep parents together for kids and a healthy couple but knowing sexually they aren’t perfect and then it’s not hurting anyone’s egos also

God is Love ❤. These people are longing for God's love. God is infinite and never changing. This is a primary example of replacing God. This goes against what Marriage is about.
@TheJaredscott832 жыл бұрын
Polyamorous people also are free to love God. This is not a replacement for that love. If anything, polyamory is close to the teachings of God in the sense God instruct us to love one another.
