I have been processing Polystyrene by hand for the purposes of thermoforming applications for two years now. The material we use, while polystyrene, is not styrofoam. It's high-impact sheets of foam-core plastic. I have been breathing in the dust and fumes for two years, 60 - 80 hours a week. I now have stage 2 Lymphoma.

Your title is misleading. Your video is about Styrofoam and only Styrofoam which is EPS foam. Polystyrene itself is a completely different topic. It's a material not a product. Your use of the word polystyrene in the title would be like me making a video titled "Lithium" but then the video only shows lithium batteries.

@@brianbeakmann4065 No. EPS is made USING polystyrene. Hence the name Expanded Polystyrene Foam. Read my original post, again. Another comparison: Making a video titled "What are tomatoes? Why ketchup is TERRIBLE!" Then making the entire video about ketchup but never talking about the tomatoes, themselves. 🤷

I believe it is very important for you to better inform yourself, because you are only focusing on certain characteristics that may seem unfavorable, but you are overlooking all the great advantages this material has. You could make a video about glass saying it’s bad because it cuts, or a video about iron saying it’s bad because, when it rusts, it can cause tetanus. In the end, everything could seem bad. Furthermore, you don’t provide any evidence for what you are saying; it’s all assumptions about why it shrinks and how microplastics can be harmful. Expanded polystyrene is a material used for food preservation and also saves a lot of energy due to its excellent thermal insulation. It is also widely used to lighten construction, allowing the use of less cement, which is actually very polluting. It also creates an insulating layer that helps dramatically reduce energy consumption for both heating and cooling. This is very beneficial to the environment, as reducing energy consumption lowers the carbon footprint. There is no perfect material, so I suggest you better inform yourself to avoid confusing your audience. Your intention is good, but your information is not.
