Thanks, Robert. Reading out that passage was really helpful. That has given me some clarity on purgatory which was needed. I didn’t realise that it was an expiation of love. Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners spread the effect of grace of thy flame of love over all of humanity now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Our Churches in the north pray for the dead at almost all masses, and especially in the month of november. But i do agree many do not think about purgatory enough.

Book recommendation: "The Four Last Things: Death, Judgment, Hell, Heaven". By Fr. Martin von Cochem. Pre Vatican II with Imprimatur from Archbishop Michael Augustine Corrigan of New York. Available from TAN USA and Blackwells UK. The Topic of the Four Last things doesn't seem to have been discussed at the Synod. Now, that is a Surprise! Go Figure! Maybe they all think Hell is empty! The thing is, belief in a non empty Hell isn't an entry requirement. Mary, Queen Conceived without Original Sin. Hi Robert.. I am currently reading The Afterlife: Purgatory and Heaven Explained, by Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo. Maybe you are familiar with it? An exceptional book.. and the best explanation on purgatory I have come across. Very beautiful. And concurs exactly with what you read out from Maria Valtorta..

Not correct. Irish people continually pray for their dead . Also the church devotes the month of November praying for the souls in purgatory. Have you forgotton this?

I believe that Robert is generalising. Devout people at mass pray for those in purgatory and their ancestors..
