In this video, I will show you the basics of what Quantizing actually is and how you can use it effectively in music production. The concepts I go through will apply to any good DAW, including Cubase, Logic Pro X, Reaper, Ableton Live and Pro Tools. In addition, I also detail when you may not want to use quantizing in your music, and briefly look at some more in depth uses.

Oh so quantization is just limiting the timing between the notes or lining up the notes. I wish tutorials were like 30 seconds long and go straight to the point.

How much strength of quantizing would you think is the minimum to fix timing errors, but not feel to robotic? Great video by the way, very easy to follow!

I struggle with understanding how much to quantize especially in case of staccatos. Do you have any suggestions?

With Staccatos, I almost always have a Quantize strength of 100% - meaning everything is always exactly lined up with the grid. I find that helps to give me the best and tightest timing, although I know lots of composers don't always like that. I hope that helps!

4:10. Yep. That's me :). 1/16 & 1/32 can be a bit of a banana skin on tight timing. Thanks, Simon.
