What is RCS Messaging & How to ENABLE it on Samsung Galaxy Phones/Android Phones ?

Idk why samsung is pushing 2 messages apps when they want to make google messages as default. Also google messages why don't they just make rcs turn on by default, majority users won't even know what rcs is? Also they google messages ui looks crap, they need to modernize it a lot. Samsung messages or imessage have a good ui.

I have RCS and love it. It's hard to ask others to install and enable it. Especially iPhone users

All iPhone users have to do is update to iOS 18. You have to be using Google Messages over Samsung messages.

Verizon doesn't allow rcs on Samsung messages. I think it depends on your carrier because some people can't access the rcs settings.

It's most likely because VZW has their own app called Message Plus (which I'm surprised is still a thing!) Let alone VZW Cloud.

Only Google messages itself does RCS while just like you I do have Verizon as my carrier for my S23 ultra even with all the updates lately I still my manage to have my Samsung messages within the settings to switch up the messaging default

You are correct. I have Verizon and am running Android 11. There is no Chat option in the Samsung Messages Settings. I did install Google Messages, but I like Samsung Messages better.

Hi Recently i have noticed battery drain issue in S24 ultra and the main cause is Contact Storage. I dont know what it is but i have read on the internet that many users are facing similar issue since many years and is not just a handset specific. My s24u gets no chat settings, only advanced messaging. But my flip6 gets chat settings and RCS works with iPhone & Google Messages users. They are different app builds. Both purchased with AT&T. So something more going on IMO. 🤷‍♀️

As far as I know T-Mobile in the USA does NOT support RCS messaging and no way to turn this on on my Galaxy phone using the Samsung Messaging app. If someone knows otherwise then PLEASE share how you were able to turn it on using T-Mobile. THANKS!
