I watched many videos' for REST API what exactly it is but none really tried to make it so simple and illustrative as you did ! I am network security engineer but i really wanted to understand the very basic of REST API ! You nailed the BASIC of REST API and anyone watching this video can easily understand the usage/example/structure of REST API ! Even the documentation available online did not help as much you helped ! Finally, I realized what exactly is REST API. I'm sending data, not representation of it. Thanks dude. IMHO XML is dead in web, maybe it is used in Java application between applets and servlets, but as I see normal web apps use JSON format.

In short, when we request data instead of a web page from server, which in fact is a state of an object, we use REST API to receive that state of an object in xml/json format and by using REST API we do CRUD operations, and jersey and sparing is the way of implementing this REST API, i think this should make things clearer...
