The Rococo style was delicately elegant with a distinct preference for asymmetry. It was presided over by France's King Louis XV's mistress, Madame du Pompadour, a sophisticated lady of impeccable style. Find out more www.thecultureconcept.com

Thank you for this. Not easy finding documentaries on the Rococo style. It is simply not understood by our Lowest Common Denominator hyper-democratic society.

Rococco is too expensive for everyday capitalists. You need to be an aristocrat to really afford it.

It was an era of loyalty, wealth, honor & education, with an extremely feminine attitude that exuded elegance. However during these times, con artists spawned in full strength ... Posing as royalty to make a quick fortune that helped bring the period to it's abrupt end. From pirates posing as sea merchant businessmen & privateers promising huge returns from enterprise with the intent to fraud. Meaningless inventions that didn't even have a real purpose were prominent. The black market was already flourishing so that commoners could enjoy a lower end of fanciful products at a fraction of the price ... that included only a fraction of the product also. Then there were side street quacks passing through villages impersonating doctors with ineffective medicines. Perfumes were a major business throughout Europe but they were also compromised once the Georgian influences began to spread bearing more masculinity. It wouldn't be long before France's monarchy would fall ...

Sorry, but your description here are so predictable in focusing on SUPERFICIALITY without attempting to explain why this may have been so, or if there were other reasons for this style to have emerged. Does your explanation also explain the Bavaria Rococo?

Informative video Carolyn. Is art really meant to be something to squabble over, surely everyone is entitled to their own interpretation?

@rob16248 Just because someone is better than you are in almost every way (except for the expletives of the vulgar) does not mean she is a snob. And since you cannot see a connection between the classically-influenced genres, it appears that your tertiary education was purchased at one of our more affordable public institutions.

@rob16248 You are listening, apparently. Although, I wouldn't call it "listening". I'd call what you do, "hearing". Listening actally takes some understanding. You appear to have lost yours - if you ever had any.
