Megumi-san is the best shiatsu therapist I've ever encountered in Japan! She was kind to share some of her knowledge and skills with us during Vira Life Academy and Spawo Foundation's 2019 retreat expeditions in Ladakh. Apart from that, she's a wonderful soul, a taichi sister, a healer, and a kind friend. Highly recommend people to check out her Shiatsu clinic in Tokyo when you visit!

Thanks to Sherab Jin, I have learned and experienced so much on the trip of Vira Life Academy 2019 retreat expeditions in Ladakh. It is a memory that I will never forget. Especially, when we visited a nursing home of Ladakh and treated people there with shiatsu massage, I realized again that “touch” is so soothing and powerful. I wish I could visit Ladakh again in the future.

Love this video. Thank you for sharing. I have been blessed to be a Shiatsu practitioner for over 24 years. Shiatsu looks at the whole person, the whole body. The interview of Magumi Okubo is informative and inspiring. All my clients get tennis balls.

The fact that we can do these treatments on ourselves is huge. The toe-spreading thing felt so good. The other one that feels great is the one for the lower back, where you sit and hold your leg at the bend of the knee, and then extend. I have had sciatica and I never saw that treatment for it. The reminder to stimulate near the fingernail beds--I forget to do that. It will be great for when I'm on the train, knowing that instead of lamenting spotty train service, I can use the time to self-treat for stress. This was great. I love to learn things I can do myself. I suppose it would be wonderful to get a shiatsu massage every morning, but I don't know many folks who have that kind of money. Now I can do it anyway. Thank you for this.

I can only afford going once-a-month, but definitely consider getting a massage part of my health routine!

I have had a Shiatsu massage a long time ago and I had no idea it did so much, very interesting. I've just had a Thai Massage as I'm in Bangkok.

Thank you for this video, i thoroughly enjoying it. I have lived in Japan for 18 years and not once did i ever experience Shiatsu until today, my co worker who works as a therapist on the side, gave me oil massage then he gave me Shiatsu massage, i felt oil massage was more surface therapy, but Shiatsu was deep,,,,,a much deeper kind of massage. I am sooooo interested now to learn this magnificant art and therapy. PLease if you could, is there is some book that you can recommend me to read up on this subject more?

I didn’t know Siatsu was so deep and not just a kind of massage. Better to watch this before getting Siatsu.
