I’ve just returned from enquiring about the bachelor of social work at my local university. I’m 37 and I’m ready to go to university and complete a degree after starting a degree 15 years ago and never completed. The degree I never finished wasn’t a degree in psychology, mental or social work which has always been my interest. I can’t wait to finally go back. Thanks for this video.

Hello! I’m a student interested in studying social work in college after I graduate! I just have a few questions: Do you guys have lots of presentations to do? Giving speeches are one of my biggest fears and I’m still willing to do it regardless, but yknow… are there a lot? And secondly, will I be able to find a job that will sustain me with this degree? I know it may sound like a stupid question, but I want your genuine opinion. Also, do you regret your degree? Great video though! Thanks!

I don't remember having to give a lot of presentations -- but also most of my social work classes were only about 10 people so it became very comfortable spaces anytime we would have to speak. I personally have a job that is sustaining me with this degree -- different areas of the field differ in their starting income and benefits, but there is definitely opportunity in social work to get paid more than a living wage. I don't regret my degree! I recognize that no degree would be a perfect fit for everyone, but this degree was a good fit for me

I hate presentations as well. But you only get better at it if you do them. Therefore embrace the challenges of giving presentations. Because sooner or later you'll have to do them at some point in your life.
