I have Rigid Collar on my 2011 WRX STI, 2011 Golf MK6 TSI and 2011 Mazda CX-7, and to me they are a must for any car. Not many people know that subframe can shift over time (Ok, the Golf MK6 people is well aware of this), and many don't even know there is actually a subframe alignment hole on cars to align it. Having the Rigid Collar ensures the car's subframe is dead center which will benefit wheel alignment. And it does have a rigidity effect which somehow makes the car rides better.

I think the collars provide better/more accurate positioning of the braces to the main chassis rather than making the structure more rigid. The step of the collars basically fill up the gap thus eliminates misalignment of the outer hole and threaded hole.

The grease isn't just anti-seize, but should also be dielectric to prevent corrosion caused by the the contact between the aluminum and steel. What none of these installation videos show that the amateur doing this at home will run into is that there is much to do before you get access to all of this. There's the removal of the crap-metal bottom cover, then there's the 20 or so clips and a few small bolts to remove the much larger plastic cover that covers almost the entire front underside of the car. 6 of these clips are way up in the wheel well, so if you are on jack stands or on something like a quick-jack lift like I am, you're going to need to remove the wheels to access them comfortably. My question for you is did you put all of that back on after you did the collars and stiff brace, or do you leave the underside naked?

I think the rigid collars are bull. The bolts locations are very rigid as is and when you tighten the bolts down the frame is not gonna move because the clamping force is far to strong. Ive removed those bolts on many accident cars how come the frame has bent and moved everywhere except the mounting locations? The collars certainly wont make the structure less rigid but to rant and rave about feeling a huge difference is more than likely the alignment you got after the repair. Maybe you have a bit of toe out giving you that very shark steering response. The weak link is more likely the threaded locations on the chassis.
