Music may be the biggest reasons people outside of Sweden learn Swedish. It always seems to surprise Swedes how many foreigners went to Gyllene Tider and Per Gessle concerts (Roxette fans who follow Per's other work) and knew all the words to songs. It's crazy to hear people from 20 different countries shouting Sommartider.

Wait really? Like I know Roxette was huge internationally but their songs are mostly (all?) in english unlike Gyllene Tider and Per as a solo artist. Must be a strange thing to listen to music and not understanding the words, but considering how Per puts his heart into the songs he write, you can probably catch the spirit of the song.

You forgot about The Skarsgårds! The Skarsgård family is a Swedish national treasure! Very talented actors, smart, with a great sense of humor, humble and down-to-earth human beings, not to mention good looking. 💙💛 Love them so much! I've been admiring them for 14 years and I have a huge collection of their movies. I also love the country and Stockholm since I was 12. This and The Skarsgårds are the reasons I decided to learn Swedish. I took a gazillion virtual walks in Stockholm and I would love to move there one day or at least to visit the city. I would like to thank you for what you're doing, you do a great job, it really helps me to learn Swedish. 😊

in the 80's, there was a lot of swedish artist that i liked so much (i have some records and i use to listen even now): Style was one of these bands, and also Fake, another swedish band that have the first album produced in italy, where his song "donna rouge (voglio fare l'amore)" become very popular. Another one was Europe (here in Italy there was an italo disco band also know as "Europe" -Charisma in some countries). In present days, there is a band that i love so much: Dirty Loops!

Besides mentioned, I know Frictional Games - awesome games, very much recommended! I never knew that Tetra Pak, Electrolux, and Spotify were Swedish! And everyone where I live (Seattle, Washington, USA) uses an IKEA bag for laundry, too. I had about 5 of them and had to give some away to neighbors! If you can find clips, watching the Volvo folks do crash tests before seatbelts is both funny and frightening... I saw some Volvo documentary and learned about the seatbelts. I have owned 5 Volvos and have had severe accidents in 2 of them... and walked away with minor injuries. "VOLVO: They're boxy but they're good!"

In Germany, one swedish company that we constantly see everywhere and powers most of our homes is Vattenfall! Actually the development of car seatbelt is incorrectly attributed by many to Volvo. It is infact developed by two Vattenfall engineers Bengt Odelgard and Per-Olof Weman, which was then first adopted by Volvo cars.
