'Observing it in it's subtleties, one dissolves his ego and obtains clarity, and the patterns of yin-yang movement unfold themselves completely'...sigh; it's just too beautiful and true for words♥ Thanks for sharing and yes; please please make about the metaphysical, too!♥

Thanks Seena. Love your comment. Yes, I would make videos about metaphysics in the future!

I especially like the translation of each character. This is difficult to piece together because there are so few 'connector' words in these ancient texts. Words in English like of-as-to-in-is. A common theme is Daoism is the relationship between roots and branches. The root represents stability and permanence....while the branches represent multiplicity and constant change. The Sage who has mastered 太極 embodies a harmony of both principles....the whole tree so to speak. Thank you Dr. Gao for another wonderfully in-depth explanation!

You are right. 太极 is the root of everything.

Thank you for such an in-depth présentation. I can't think how long it must have taken to research the topic. I, for one, would love for you to continue this theme.

Thanks for this video on the roots of Chinese philosophy. It is quite complex and I will need to watch it a few times to get to grips with it!! It is quite interesting that the philosophical framework for ethics, education, social and political structure is based on Confucian principles while medicine, technology, agriculture, and military practices are based on Taoist principles. I wonder why that is so. How would things be if it was the other way around? How is I-jing based divination done in practice? Is it very popular? Looking forward to more.

Thanks your support Jiri. I knew you would like this video. I Ching divination is quite simple. You throw a coin six times as I described in the video. Then you would get a hexagram. Then you consult the Book of I Ching about the hexagram which will tell you the possible outcomes of whatever you are planning to do.
