My dad was a funeral director and they could never get a trumpet player to play taps. Hence came me. I would get called out of school for a funeral to go play. When we moved to the Houston area the veteran cemetery has a huge concrete circle. They would have me stand opposite of the graveside, i would listen to the orders of the guns, then play. Because of the massive stones around me, it would echo, sounding like 2 trumpets playing. It was amazing, and for me, the most important thing I've ever done in my life.

That is an absolutely awesome story. I loved the part about it echoing off the concrete circle!! Yes, I'll bet you are very proud of that. Heck, I'm proud of you and I don't even know you!!!😉

Great story. If you miss it, look into bugles across america. Or contact your local military cemetery. Military arr short on live bugles and may bring some enjoyment back that you missed. Thanks for honoring my fellow comrades. ~SFC K US Army (1 month until retirement 👨‍✈️🗓👨‍💼❤❤❤)

This was played at my great uncle Big Jimmy's funeral during his burial. Big Jimmy fought in The Korean War and he worked as an auto mechanic.

We have an entire playlist for the 1920s that is about 70% done. I'm planning a major video for the 100th anniversary of the ending of WWI. We have a complete Progressive Era playlist as well (but it was some of our earliest videos and they aren't the best).

The one thing I think of those decades are the economic boom of the 20s and the sinking of the titanic. And in the back of my mind there’s also world war 1.

Well actually taps is not even French it was originally from England and the correct name for the tune is last post. It dates from the 17th century. Sorry but it's true.
