Do you have a repugnant smell in your garden? Check around and see if you find something even stranger growing near that smell. They could be stinkhorn mushrooms. Learn more about that stinky fungi in this video.
Although unsightly, stinkhorn fungi feed on organic material rather than plants. You can replace some of the soil or mulch that they live in but the fungal hyphae spread far, so you may not eliminate them.

I have them for the first time and they are popping up daily. They smell terrible.
