Weirdly enough my hometown (Elko, Nevada) has a huge Basque connection. We have a Basque Festival every year and a few amazing Basque restaurants. It's random, but I do love hearing more about the Basque people's origins. I knew a lot of people in Elko with Basque ancestry.

Aupa Vagabrothers! I discovered your blog thanks to Txaro and the good ole Gobierno Vasco. Just like you guys, I am from California and I also spent time as an auxiliar de conversación. I recently returned to the U.S. after being there for almost two years without returning home... It is so crazy to believe I left on May 31st of this year, 2016... I made so many wonderful friends and I have so many beautiful memories that will stick with me forever. La oportunidad de vivir allí fue una experiencia inolvidable. I have yet to see the rest of the videos in this series, but it has been such a pleasure watching this first one. It is like taking me back in time and I am able to revisit the places that I have seen in person (i.e. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Gernika, Getaria, Donostia, Astigarraga, the area by the Salto del Nervión, etc.). I myself lived in Durango and Urkiola used to be my stomping grounds. Did you guys ever make it to Amboto? Hah, and pintxos saved me from hunger many a time. Anyway, thanks for giving me the chance to float away a little. I am now working full time and things are very different. Bueno... Eskerrik asko lagunak! I wish you well on your travels. Ondo pasa!

Eskerrik asko Vagabrothers! I left part of my heart in Euskal Herria when I first went there 5 years ago to visit our Basque families we got connected with hosting students through a summer English student exchange program (Summer in the USA). I had the privilege to dine in homes and sociedades surrounded by the amazing people, culture, and of course, FOOD (and cannot forget the superb wine and sagardoa! Txin txin!). Hey guys! Nice video, I enjoyed very mutch watching it. Basque loans in english? Head honcho?!, wow! that's awesome! Well, as a truly basque and a big JRR Tolkien fan, I can't help you with the Gondor issue. However, there is a fact that I think you will find interesting: Did you know that most likely Tolkien took the name for Bilbo Baggins from the basque city of Bilbao? Yes, it sounds crazy, Tolkien used to take names from ancient english for some charaters. Well, in the sixteenth century the iron stuff crafted in Bilbao was named "bilbo". Maybe its doesn't seem very credible but Shakespeare used it in some works, for examle in "The merry wives of Windsor" or even in Hamlet! As tolkien Tolkien was a great english filologist, it's sure he knew well this works and it is very probable that he took this word from this books to name the main character of his first book. You can find more about this here: openliterature.net/2010/04/08/word-of-the-day-bilbo/ Hope you find this interesting! see you!
