Everything between Daggerfall and Morrowind feels like a fever dream. Probably because it was.

The entrance to the battlespire possibly being in hammerfell is the first thing I've heard that would explain why the thalmor put so much attention, forces and resources into taking it before others; besides their prowess. They could hide there during an apocalypse or try to return to aetherius from there.
@thalmoragent9344
@thalmoragent9344 2 жыл бұрын
Well, either that or they wanted the resources under Hammerfell's deserts, as well as a way to enclose more of Cyrodil As well as get closer to the Adamantine Tower

The battlespire was something that I’d wanted to learn more about for a while now, and this video basically covered everything i wanted to know about it. Also, could you do a video on the Umbriel Crisis? Besides that, great video!

I love the Elder Scrolls precisely for weird and creative high fantasy concepts like the Battlespire or the Dwemer or all the crazy lore regarding Aedra and Daedra. And nobody presents it better than you

It would be interesting if the rock the Spire is located on is a dragon's skull. Not just a normal dragon though, what if there was a physical incarnation of Akatosh as a dragon, and thats his skull?

Like Akatosh before the middle dawn event (the 3rd dragon break iirc) in which men cast out his elven aspect Auri-El from him? You might be onto something

For those who want in game depictions of Imperial Guard/Shadow Legionnaires, the Duke of Vvardenfell's guards in Morrowind and the Imperial Palace Guards in Oblivion are both part of the Shadow Legion. The Battlespire, after the events of Battlespire and Arena, was no longer used. So in the years following, a bunch of Imperial Guards were recruited that never had the same sort of Battlespire experience. Which is sort of an explanation as to why they're not OP as hell in the games they appear in. Although the members of the guard in ESO are definitely trained in the Battlespire, so if any of them happen to be a little too squishy... eh that's purely a game design thing.

One of my fav TES games, so glad you're giving the lesser known ones attention! I'm glad you decided to still do it even without the ability to directly capture footage

It would be cool to see a full remake of the game with modern graphics and mechanics. Shame Bethesda isn't keen on doing remakes, and idk if they would even be okay with fans remaking any of their past spin-off games.

@@TeCHnORiOT idk about modern mechanics, i feel like modern tes mechanics would remove most of the cool elements about this game, i'd rather see a Daggerfall Unity style remake personally. I love these fan remakes, same with OpenTESArena and Redguard Unity

It's the only game that truly immerses you in with all forms of Daedra. They could've used this as a way to REALLY flesh them out in future installments, but they failed to do that. Such a wasted opportunity. I would love to work as an agent for the Dremora or the Seducers as the basis of a game and get the same visits like you do in BS.

1st; the word slipspace makes me think a lot about Halo. 2nd; With a dragon being in service at the Battlespire and another being around in ES Redguard, I wonder how many Dragons were there in service of the Septim dynasty of the Tamrielic Empire? 3rd; The idea of the Battlespire being the ES equivalent of the International Space Station is interesting. 4th; I also ponder on how many other access points to the Battlespire there are? Overall, it would be neat to see more of this installation.

Take everything im about to say with a huge grain of salt Because the info I'm remembering is quoting an old forum post made by Micheal kirkbride but while in the planning phase for oblivion they intended to have dragons as functionaries in the imperial legions as soldiers

Tbf the fact you can fly down to mundus via dragon or airship sort of imply it's in space/high atmosphere (at least when talking about the mundus part overlapping with aetherius and oblivion). And this would not contrast with existing lore since another way to view at mundus is a geocentric (nirncentric?) solar system with planets and stuff

It's worth it for the lore and it doesn't take long to get used to the controls. It's the #1 game for learning what all the Daedra are about. No other installment has nearly enough info or world building with the Daedra. You also get to meet Mehrunes Dagon as well as a slew of other known daedra characters.

Only semi-relevant, but one of my favorite TESLore posts ever was basically a guess at how the heck Tamriel can be this crazy sci-fantasy setting in a lot of ways, but most people are still stuck living with a high medeival quality of life. The long and short of it was that Tamriel doesn't industrialize because they simply don't need to. A group of skilled mages can make all the advanced creature comforts they need for themselves (Instantanious long-distance comunication fancy tick-tock mirrors, teleportation, flying, probably air-con, etc.) , so why bother with the herculean effort required to start a technological revolution? They certainly wouldn't do it for the sake of poor people. The other point was that Tamriel having "space programs" for a while in the 1st Era was because magic sucked then, so they *did* need to come up with mechanical solutions (Mananauts, Sunbirds) wheras since the Mages' Guild became a thing, there's plenty of chumps around who can just... open a portal to Oblivion. The Battlespire is a special case designed for longer-term contact and research.

@@ArmadilloArmada A pretty basic principle with most magic systems is that "ritualistic" magic that takes a long time to complete is significantly simpler and more primitive than achieving the same effect instantaneously. It's like the magic equivalent of miniaturization. Also "incredibly complex" seems like a big assumption. It's true that really they were mostly dropped because of the "difficulty of reaching magic through magic", but something that annoys me is people's assumption that Tamriel is mysteriously on a LotR style mythic decline. That happened in LotR because _god wanted it to happen_ and LotR was partially conceived as the mythical history of Earth. Not so for Tamriel.

If that game got a remake, it would probably play like Uncharted or Tomb Raider with minor rpg elements which wouldn't be bad at all. I would love to see Bethesda actually make the spin off, The Eye of Argonia.
